Release Kodi Matrix 19.0 HDR Edition
(2019-09-08, 22:45)HerrSchiller Wrote: The latest version of this release seems to work perfect for 4k HDR movies but whenever I start a normal 1080p Bluray rip movie it freezes. With each movie. Sometimes it takes a long time to load and then it gets stuck within a minute or so of playback. I think I revert back to a previous version for now.

My system:

AMD Ryzen 1600
Nvidia Geforce 970
16 GB Ram
Windows 10 latest version

AMD progress was a lucky guess while starting.

But to be honest my entire code is contained behind 2 "if"
The HDR code will be executed if the file has hdr metadata or if it's bt.2020.

Outside this conditions the entire code (except libbluray) is the same as main Kodi.

Is there a way to check which Kodi version your builds are based on? Do you know if v19 includes the changes from v18.4?

Matrix 19.0 receive improvements when compared with Kodi Leia 18.4, but is working in progress, so is possible broken skins or add-ons in the future. For now, it's all great.

It's based on 31/08/2019.

And I forgot to compile a version with the Leia splash, sorry for that.
I've used my entire weekend trying to figure out a way to trigger windows OS hdr.
If I could find a way this could mean an universal hdr system for Nvidia, AMD and Intel.

Alas, this wasn't possible whatsoever.
The way the code I started with triggered windows hdr was by NVapi.

So I guess this is a definitive answer: for Intel use the regular official Kodi fork and enable hdr before playing hdr content.
For Nvidia use this fork with dxva of pixel shader.
For AMD use this fork for pixel shader for now.

Next weekend I'll start working with a AMD gpu in hands and hopefully this build can cover any discreet gpu and also ryzen iGPU.

Switched back to your version 2.3 and everything works fine again. 1080p bluray files as well as 4k HDR files!

So my only guess is that AMD code is interfering which I don't believe it is, or FFmpeg 4.2 is a welcome progress.

I'll check on that.

Just wanted to say, I've been testing this with Nvidia card. Works a treat.

I have moved back to using 18.4 and external player for 4K film though. As one of my wifes favourite widget doesn't look like its working on Matrix v19. Recent episodes for TV shows aren't removed from the front screen once watched.

Thanks for all your hard work, hoping it can be moved into the official v19 code at somepoint

My new TV should hopefully arrive this week so I'll finally be able to help test this properly on an AMD card.

I just arrived at my new Airbnb. 5mb internet connection according to speed test and I only got my notebook with me.

I have a copy of all my movies on gdrive but at this speeds I cant test much.
Actually I'm considering creating some tests methodology to upload or not a release.
4k and 1080p mkv. UHD and regular blurays including menus.

At first I had the impression the problem with Blu-ray chapters was related to FFmpeg, but it's not.
Maybe it's time to try a experimental build that updates every lib, bin (*.dll) and includes (*.cpp and *.h) to the latest version and see if everything works fine.

blueray chapters i belive it's not pulling the current chapter info, with full menu play back trying to skip chapter it shows 0/21 and with MKV it shows correctly and will go from 1/21 all the way to 21/21 (21 is just a random example for chapter total)

Yeah I noticed it, the big problem is that I have zero knowledge on this portion.
As far as I know this portion of Kodi was implemented by Ace.
I've tried several times to write to him but never got a reply.

I even quoted him on this thread but still, nothing.

For hdr I got tons of tips and examples by afdechin and madhsi, without them this would not be possible, so I don't think I have the proper knowledge to fix this.

Hi everybody am i the only person getting intermittent glitching only when playing 4k hdr with the Ryzen 2400g ? it doesnt look like dropped frames more like a frame quickly repeating itself, watched a few episodes of carnival Row in 4k last night with no hdr and no glitching.

I'm sorry, didn't get this in english, you mean:

Renderer method: Pixel Shader
HW accel.: DXVA
Huh

Is anyone else having trouble with user input in version 2.5?  It seems as soon as I start playback of any type of video, Kodi no longer responds to either IR remote or even keyboard input.  The keyboard definitely continues to work as hitting the Windows key or Ctrl-Alt-Del does what you'd expect but nothing is registered in Kodi.  They work fine until a video is played.
