Kodi 17.7 DSPlayer x64 (2020 build)
haha it would appear new members are unable to edit their posts for a while...
well i've reverted back to the old version in hopes of figuring out somehow, why one works and one doesn't

https://paste.kodi.tv/enifomupus.kodi

^ is a paste of a working one which maybe someone greater than i can gleam information from, if i figure it out in the mean time i'll make another post (or edit if i get the permissions): D

i suspect, its something to do with the whole new rule matching thing (even though the file is .mkv through the api)

so yeah i'm having no luck with it just using DSPlayer by default. i've followed this thread and done all the settings as set up, but i don't know how to remove / edit the above rules to work with plex and restore original functionality (as it was before).
It's obviously the rules. I'd recommend backing up your playercorefactory.xml and then going to Settings >> Player >> DSPlayer and clicking "! Helper: Create example player rule". That should fix your problem, and it will use DSPlayer for everything, which is probably what you want.

its not those rules, I already did all that. I also changed it from the default helper creation rules (after it failed to work) to just a single . (dot) in the match rules, so that it would match everything. that also didn't work.

neither external nor internal work

just to recap;
completely uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, followed all the instructions as detailed within the front page, read all 20 pages and attempted any / all recommendations and still none of it works.

ok i might be getting somewhere with looking at my own screenshots and seeing the words URL in the second one, which i've enabled and 'internet stream' in the first which was false (changed to true now).

still not working but we are getting closer i feel, because of this.

read my message above on how i got it to do all formats, just use that rule thing and set it to match formats as a dot (.) and if anything says false (like internet streams) enable that, alongside URL and others. that'll make it go back to dsplayer.

your other comment about the slow incremental seeking, i've also noticed.

I managed to fix my issue i think. It was caused with this version deleting all my madvr settings somehow. so the 480p content that was trying to be upscaled to 4k was trying to do it via cubic and possibly that isn't supported with madvr (thats just a guess, no clue - but when I changed my settings back, at least that worked with the internal filters, couldn't get external to work).

So i've kinda given up, i need stability really, not bleeding edge. i'll check this project out again in 6 months time or so as a candidate for daily driver. Or i'll keep pushing ahead and playing with everything to try get it all working. not sure atm.

ok hope these issues get taken care of , good to see there is more that noticed said issues indeed , especially the broken zoom, hope this gets fixed for sure , until then ill be using the older version that works as well, until this build is fixed and hopefully updated

p.s btw i wouldnt know how to setup said rules or such , would you have a copy paste file i can just drag and drop , would make life easier and alot less headaches to me , im pretty much a noob when it comes to that, thanks, as said would need a setup that uses dsplayer for everything including bdmvs and vobs

you can see part of it here (the dot . ) and if you scroll down you'll see 'internet streaming FALSE' change that to true.

in the filter rules enable URL too.

then go through and enable debugging so you can paste logs like i did and check the logs to find what it actually happening in relation to the rule matching. basically its just a case of reversing the rules so that it uses DSPlayer for everything.

Your log shows it not using the DS Selective rule because it's matching other rules instead (and it's definitely matching another rules because it's using the default video player instead). Paste your playercorefactory.xml here.

Mine is just this with no other content, so no other rules for it to match:
Code:

<playercorefactory>
    <rules action="prepend">
        <rule name="Use DSPlayer selective" player="DSPlayer" filetypes="mkv|mp4|mov|avi|wmv|flv|mpg|mpeg" internetstream="false" />
    </rules>
</playercorefactory>

It might also be helpful to know what kind of media you're trying to play? Are you trying to stream movies from somewhere, or playing local content. Presumably it's the former, and then you might need to set internetstream="true". filetypes="." would probably even be more inclusive.

Edit: Looks like you're trying to stream a movie from plex, but you still have all the default Kodi rules in place and it's matching those instead of the one you want because they're more restrictive. I also can't tell if you're failing to stream, or it's working just using VideoPlayer and not DSPlayer.

Your use case is quite specific. I've never used bdmv and vob files with DSPlayer. Once MakeMKV became available it made no sense to me, hence I'm not able to help you. Otherwise I always try to help fellow users.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first (usually it's enough to follow instructions in the second post).

why arent you just adding these into the config file yourself, surely you can edit a text file?
