You can edit them in photoshop or use an online free service, like Animated GIF editor and GIF maker (ezgif.com). There's no standard size, since up until now, nobody seemed to care about this kind of artwork. It would be great if you would make them available through theaudiodb.com
In that case, you know better, they can be very heavy if too big...
