[RELEASE] AutoWidget - Let your widgets work for you!

Okay thanks for the info. I guess it won't work then... Have another question. I use Arctic Zephyr 2 and Autowidget and I have created two widget groups (favorites) here (series and movies). For the movies, the cover is shown to me, but not for the series. Anyone have any idea why?

That has been taken care of. The reason was that the Skin Widget was not up to date...

But I still have another problem. I have a menu item "Movies" in the Arctic Zephyr 2 skin and here I have added various widgets (paths from the Autowidget addon). Now when I "mark as watched" a movie, the movie is still shown in the widget.

@drinfernoo   Do you have any idea what the problem is? Is it related to the skin, the widget addon or the autowidget addon?

It lets you add a shortcut to open an add-on's settings dialog directly. You add the shortcut to a shortcut group, point a widget at the group, and click the shortcut Wink

Do you have "Hide Watched Items" turned on or off?

I have created a few screenshots so that it is a little clearer which view I mean.

It doesn't work with the widget view in the main menu.

With this view it works. Here the "marked as seen" are hidden.

The way watched status is detected is by checking that the item has a playcount of at least 1... If you can get me the .cache file that goes along with that widget, we could investigate a little further, but it may be tough to ascertain. Are those items coming from an add-on or the library? Is that context option from Trakt or Kodi?

I have now created another widget where videos from the library are displayed. But also here the "marked as seen" are not hidden. But the one movie with the hook is "marked as seen". Then I guess it's not because of auto widget but because of my settings or the skin.

Maybe you could test that!? Then I know at least, whether it is because of a setting with me...

I was wondering if there was any way to set a "timer" to when autowidget cycles?

I would like to set up multiple holliday(ish) smartplaylists, like christmas, halloween, new years, valentines day, 420, etc and then have them switch according to the date. idk how it would work with having a widget display old content inbetween those hollidays cuz autohiding a widget isn't a thing. but I guess it could switch back to an already set up default widget, so that holiday content is only displayed during an acceptable time frame like let's say a week or month or day.

as far as i can see autowidget pretty much just arbitrarily cycles it's content.

this would also help out another idea i wanted to try out which was making smart playlists around actors and their content and then having those cycle biweekly. so a (semi)fresh list of content is always displayed, that's not just based on more general content grouping like movie set or similiar to.

is that something that's even possible? any part of what I said lol

if not, the obvious other option is to just manually add/remove/switch the widget whenever a holiday comes up.
but the actor idea seems way more tedious to do manually.

thanks

It would be neat to have lists show during certain times only, but I haven't ever thought of that! You could open a feature request on GitHub, but I'm not sure how easy it would be to implement in the end, anyways.

In watching your YouTube videos, it looks like an older version of the app (shown in introduction video) was able to change the widget label/name on the homescreen based on the current path. Example: a group of genres [action, crime, thrillers] and the widget is currently displaying the thriller path. I would like the widget label to say [thrillers]. Rather than a generic title describing all three. Is this possible in the current app?

Works perfect, thanks for the quick response!

I'm building an offline HTPC, and this widget has really brought it to life. Keep up the good work

would it be possible to allow a list only to recycle after a maintained time frame?

example:
i want a widget on my screen that show me all movies from only one movie collection and change this collection every monday

so a setting on this list that block recycle until next monday or min. 7 days later

widget: Lets watch this collection this week ... (or something like this)

is there a way i can do this?
