Currently searching for a non-Android alternative device. Any high bitrate files with high end audio are problematic with the Shield Pro from my experience. More than half of my library can't be played without anywhere from half a dozen to hundreds of audio dropouts. Nobody seems to care about high-end or even decent audio these days. Audio issues like this have gone ignored with Plex for years as well.
I had thought that the shield had been updated so that Plex could in fact play the files without dropouts? Are you running the latest firmare?

This is a Kodi issue not a plex issue

did you tried kodi 18.9? I no longer have audio problems, but I don't know if the image is the same quality.
I don't think Kodi 18 has HDR. I'm also not sure how one version of Kodi would fix all these issues (which are generally at set spots every time), but no version before or after.
You had passthrough with Atmos showing on your receiver?

I went back to kodi 18.9 and I no longer had problems of audio or image drops, especially I tried dolby atmos, dtsx, 4k hdr, that if it works in 18.9, what I'm not sure is if the quality of the 4k hdr is the same as in matrix, that's my doubt, if it's the same then I'll stay in kodi 18.9, try and tell me how you're doing

18.9 does not fix it. Try a movie like Maze Runner: The Death Cure, GotG Vol. 2 or any disney movie and you still get the dropouts

ok will I try it then, with those films, the cuts have a time and time indicated? or every so often there are cuts

and if so then there is no solution? just kodi doesn't work on nvidia shield with 4k tracks dolby atmos?

You guys really need to use the search button, this has been discussed a million times!

The core of the issue is kodi has a hard coded max bit rate for audio, newer truehd/atmos tracks are above this limit, hence the dropouts. There is NO version thats works! It has been a open bug for years and kodi devs don’t see it as important enough to spend time on. The only way to stop the dropouts is to turn off truehd passthrough and have truehd/atmos sent as PCM. Yes we loose atmos,

this testing several movies with atmos in 18.9 and I did not have any cut, what I want to know is if the hdr has any difference with matrix, if the tone mapping etc is the same, if it gives the same image

Hdr is alot better in matrix, it also depends on your device

Congrats on completely derailing the thread.  Almost every post since May has been slowly dragging this thread into obscurity, in particular the posts from the last 7-10 days which are complete dross.

Can you in particular please just stop?  You clearly have no grasp of the actual problem even though all the information was in the thread and it's been explained to you directly more than once.  Now you're trying to start a discussion on HDR, and not even a worthwhile one.  Just. Stop.

+1

Stop!

I own a video engineering firm, ergo I understand video.
Kodi Signal Chain: Nvidia ShieldTV (2019) > Lumagen Radiance PRO (video output) > JVC RS4100 Projector, Paladini DCR, 2.40AR 128" Wide STK1.3 G4
                                                                                                                           (audio output) > Lexicon MC-10 Pre/Pro > 2x Lexicon LX7 Amps

Has anybody tried v20 Development Builds to see if it fixes the audio dropouts?

Tried sideloading 18.9 and the dropouts are still there. I’ve resorted to using Plex for titles from Disney that have Atmos dropouts. Sad to hear that the developers seem not to care about the issue.

I said this time and time again and I don't know if its ever gonna get fixed. Its becoming a real issue especially with a lot of movies. Plex has had this issue fixed for some time. Is there a reason why Kodi hasn't done the same thing? Has anyone made a specific build that fixes the issues?

Massive issue and getting worse and worse with more atmos movies.

Free Guy is the worst example I've come across.  Completely unwatchable in atmos.  Have to turn off bitstreaming and send 7.1 PCM instead sadly.  Hopefully the devs decide that it is important enough to fix.
