There's no feature to automatically partition things for LE + another Linux. My recommendation would be to just run from USB if you're not game for manually resizing/creating partitions as needed..

Also, assuming you're using a Chromebox, no reason to run GalliumOS at this point. It's outdated, unmaintained, and offers no benefits on a Chromebox (vs book)

Will stick to ChromOS / Libreelec for now then.

I recently purchased a second Chromebox, used. It didn't come with a VESA bracket, but I don't need one.

I would like to pick up a couple of screws that are used to mount the Chromebox, so I can easily remove the back. Anyone know what size threads are used to mount the Chromebox?

I looked around online, but found nothing. I know I can pick up a couple of screws at Home Depot cheap, if I know the thread size.

Hello!

Is our Chromebox still capable to run Kodi 19 and its Python 3 Add-Ons? I have the feeling that with Libreelec 10 the CPU usage is very high (up to 100%) even in idle state.
Sometimes Kodi crashes and restarts. I can not reproduce any error or problem. Sorry for bad english.

If you're having a performance issue with LibreELEC, then best to make a new thread and/or post on the LibreELEC forums with your exact hardware and issue. This thread is for questions around my script/firmware/install process, not post-install issues

M3 thread, probably 8mm length

Hello,

I have an ASUS Chromebox, Model Panther CN60, configured with ChromeOS + LibreELEC (dual boot). In the past, I have been successfully able to update to the LibreELEC software by simply running the Kodi E-Z Setup Script and choosing option #2, however, this time it did not go so well.

I receive the following when trying to perform the install:

Partitions formatted and mounted
Updating bootloader

./kodi.sh: line 260: /tmp/boot/syslinux/syslinux.cfg: No such file or directory
cp: cannot create regular file ‘/tmp/boot/syslinux/chain.c32’ : No such file or directory
cp: cannot create regular file ‘/tmp/boot/syslinux/libcom.c32’ : No such file or directory
cp: cannot create regular file ‘/tmp/boot/syslinux/libutil.c32’ : No such file or directory
syslinux.mnt.2558.0/syslinux/ldlinux.sys: No such file or directory
Error: Failed to install syslinux: reboot and try again

At reboot, I get the following:

SeaBIOS (version rel-1.11.0-54g248459e-MrChromebox-2018.09.12)

Booting from Hard Disk..

Failed to load ldlinux.c32
Boot Failed: please change disks and press a key to continue

Obviously I’m setup to boot directly into LibreElec but it looks like I’ve hosed the operating system. How do I proceed to fix this?

Ok, I will try this when I get home tonight. Thanks for the help. I know your steps are general to keep it simple but I have a few questions:

1. boot a Linux USB (Ubuntu, GalliumOS, etc) - How do I get the Chromebox to boot to the USB stick? Do I press ESC at boot?
2. run my Firmware Utility Script - Once I have booted from either Unbuntu or Gallium, I open a Terminal window and use the following script: cd; curl -LO mrchromebox.tech/firmware-util.sh && sudo bash firmware-util.sh Correct?
3. flash the UEFI firmware - Is this option #2 (Install/Update UEFI (Full ROM) Firmware)?
5. Install LibreELEC from USB - Same question as in Step 1 - How do I boot from USB stick?

What happens to the actual ChromeOS? Is it overwritten? Is this a standalone install of LibreELEC? Sorry for all of the Newbie questions. Thanks in advance for your help!

press ESC when prompted. If not prompted, USB stick not detected, try another stick/another port

the options vary based on device and installed firmware. Install/Update Full ROM firmware is correct

Press ESC when prompted on boot splash, select USB device from Boot Menu option

Once you install LibreELEC to the internal SSD, ChromeOS will be overwritten. This is a standalone setup. You can still run ChromeOS from USB/external SSD via Brunch

hard to say, but you're running old firmware from 2018 so best to update to the latest and start fresh

Do you plan to update the script for LibreElec 10.1 & Kodi 19.3? I had my Chromebox working and dual boot. I updated LibreElec to 10.1 within Kodi. Then found I would have to reload Kodi in order to update Kodi for a usable build. I managed to bring up your script. However, I had to add -k to get the script to work or so I thought. Upon rebooting the device the device failed. Maybe because it's loading an older LibreElec version onto a newer version LibreElec. I tried all day and finally I got it by doing a stand alone installation. However, the Kodi version is 18.7 again and lost dual boot. Thinking when it's available I'll have to make a USB on a Linux laptop I'm guessing in terminal.
