Extras appearing as a movie after Library Import
#1
First post so apologies if this isn't the right place for this location. I am using a Fire Stick 4k with the 21.0 KODI build.

I am using the Extras Add-On and have included Extras from about 50 DVD/Blu-rays. I have the advanced setting file set up and have confirmed that the extras files do not show up as movies when I do a fresh library installation. When I clean the library and attempt to import my previously exported library file, it added about 50 copies of a foreign language film called "extras". I know I can individually go through each entry and hide them but I am hoping there is an easier method available which will allow me to preserve my watch history. Are there any other methods to accomplish this?

Do you have this enabled?

If so, disable it.

I do have it enabled but it doesn't seem to have prevented the Extras from being scanned in when the library was imported.

With it enabled anything in the extras folder will be scanned as movies, which is why you have 50 versions of the movie 'Extras' now.

When you have that setting enabled you still need to add this code to your advancedsettings.xml file to prevent Extras from being scanned into library

I cleaned the library, disabled the option Ignore video extras on scan toggle, and imported my saved Library again but it still added the Extras movie repeatedly.

I added back my source file and set content and this time it did not scan the Extras.

I do have the advanced settings file saved to the userdata folder but it doesn't seem to be working when I import a previously existing library export, but I have confirmed it does prevent the Extras from being scanned in on a new library scan.

Looking into the extras format listed here is this the same code we would use for Window 10 as well?

You mean the advancedsettings.xml code? If so, then Yes.

Yes sir that's what I meant. I thought I said advancedsettings.xml I guess I thought it and didn't write it.

So would I need to re-scan my library to get rid of the extras or is there a faster way. Guess it doesn't really take to long to re-scan if not.

Once the extras are scanned, they need to be deleted. If there is a lot, then it is probably easier to "Set Content" to None, let the Library Clean happen, then rescan.
Disable this setting to have movie Extras automatically scanned to Extras... https://kodi.wiki/view/Settings/Media/Li...as_on_scan
And add that as.xml code... just in case. It won't affect scanning Extras to the new Extras system.

Did a folder wide search for extras on PC and hit delete. Cleaned library after the extras were gone and then restored all extras from the trash bin. Also added the as.xml. everything seems to be good now.
Thank you.

I'll give this a go. Thank you. Do you expect that my watch history will be preserved after the rescan?

This solution did the trick. Library maintained watch history and the bogus Extra movie listings are gone. Thank you, Overlord!
