Release YouTube
(2024-03-12, 16:52)kingsombra Wrote: As of the 7.0.3 versions, I have been seeing video freezes when playing very long ambience videos.

(I like to watch these to help me sleep)

At just around 7 hours to 7.5 hours, a video will freeze and the sound is a nasty whine, (waking me up Shocked )

This didn't seem to happen with 7.0.2. Its fairly repeatable with 7.0.3.

This does not happen when playing a very long video, stored on my NAS and playing through UPNP.

Therefore, I do not think its a recent update of Kodi 20.5, causing it.

A couple of ideas I had are...

-Somehow a memory leak bug worked its way into 7.0.3.

-Google/youtube, with their anti add-block zeal, has put in code to watch if mid-role adds are running and cuts off videos at 7 hours if not.

Things like this are really tough to diagnose since it takes so long to reproduce it, causing insanely long debug logs.

Anyway I just wanted to bring this up in case someone wants to look at it.

I rarely watch videos played directly from youtube anyway.

As of the latest and greatest versions 7.0.8 and 7.0.9betas long ambient videos no longer hang, they just crash.

How to repeat...

Fresh install youtube addon.
Do not create an account.
Put a long video in a ".strm" file.
Example:
---Calm_Fantasy_Medieval_Night_8_hours.strm---
plugin://plugin.video.youtube/play/?video_id=u3TnmAB693M
------------------------------------------------------------------
Play the strm file.
Wait for the crash at somewhere between 4 to 6 hours.

NEVER MIND. I am starting to think this is being caused by Spectrum cables ^0@$&*&Med midnight to 6am maintenance window. Stare

I have a problem using the YT addon.

I've programmed my remote to associate the 3 sec rewind with a button (Seek(-3)), but since the latest YT update it doesn't work anymore.

It only happens when the AVC1 codec in YT's options is used.

is there any other way for this to work ?

Since the last update, the Add-on is playing in SD when I first try to play some videos.

This happens especially when I use Kore App on Android to send videos to play to Kodi.

How can I force it to always play in 4k?

I logged an issue on github for this here.

Ii have the same behavior. Even if I start the video several times, it is mostly SD quality. I use Yatse to send the video to Kodi.

Apparently it was a bug with an older version of the plugin. Updated to the latest beta and it seems to be fixed now.

Just installed an Older NVidia Quadro Low Profile card in the lounge computer and now the YouTube Addon Crashes every time.
Copied Full Kodi Build from one working machine to the lounge computer, Try YouTube, Crash.
Formatted Computer, Rebuilt kodi from scratch, YouTube addon, crash.
The same build works across 4 computers, but not on the same machine with the NVidia Quadro. This Makes absolutley No Sense.
But, any thoughts from anyone?

To receive meaningful assistance you will need to provide a full debug log.

The instructions are here... debug log (wiki)

If you are using the Basic Method, then ensure the following is applied...
1.Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging,
2.Restart Kodi
3.Replicate the problem.
4.Upload the log to Kodi Paste Site manually or use the Kodi Logfile Uploader. (wiki) With either method post the link to the log back here.

If you are using the Advanced Method ensure you have correctly created and applied the advancedsettings.xml file (wiki)

In both instances, you should see the word DEBUG throughout the log.

Note: Full logs only. No partial or redacted logs
Do NOT post your logs directly into the forum. Use the Kodi Paste Site. Post the link to your pasted log in the forum

I've had this issue for years now. When I click to watch a video it shows me a list of resolutions to pick... a lot of SD ones, and then the 720p and up.

Some videos will show me only 720p, or 1080p, etc... when I know other resolutions exist. I did a bit of a test with it... had my max video set to 1080p, and clicked a video and was given 720p only as an option. Set max to 4k, tried same video again and 1080p and 2160p shows but now 720p was gone. I've tried this with a few videos and the results are often random but prove that there are resolutions available not being shown.

Any fix for this? Rather have the HD videos all show than 1 HD option and 6 SD.

Also noticed since my last update, sometimes during play back it goes black for a few seconds or goes black and stays that way. Also, when I hit subscriptions, I get the progress wheel for a second and gone, and have to click again, and sometimes a 3rd time before it finally opens.

Just downloaded the 7.09 beta 3... giving it a try. Generally I stick to the official releases but the video blanking out is a bit more of an issue than the first problem.

Hi,

For some reason kodi crashes on my installation when trying to play any youtube videos with InputStream Adaptive enabled, as soon as i disable it, no problem. Tried reinstalling plugin, kodi and vc++ package, same result, anyone able to help?

AVC1 i.e. H.264 in the stream features dialog, or AV1?

Will need a debug log to investigate. Refer to the instructions provided by Hitcher here: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid...pid3204532

Are you in Russia by any chance? If so see here: https://github.com/anxdpanic/plugin.vide...issues/841

You will need to update InputStream.Adaptive to v21.4.11 to test the proposed workaround

Would need a debug log and crash dump to even begin to investigate. Refer to the instructions provided by Hitcher here: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid...pid3204532

Otherwise try what was already suggested here: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid...pid3202493

You are holding it wrong. The old way of selecting streams prior to playback does not work for all videos and clients. Run the Setup Wizard, use the recommended settings and choose the appropriate performance settings. Then you will be able to choose the stream you want to play from "OSD > Settings > Video Settings > Video stream", or just leave it Auto and let it choose for you.

What version were you using? Post a link to a debug log if you are having a problem.

Are you sure you have updated the Visual C++ redistributable? Get it from here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/wi...le-version

For me it worked to downgrade InputStream Adaptive from the yesterday installed version 21.4.10 back to 21.4.9.
With the old Version the crashes are gone and YouTube is running fine again.

This fixed a crashing issue after driving me nuts for a while.  Thanks for sharing, ralsinn!

Yeah, I know, Debug Log. It was just a quick question in Passing, The system works fine on 4 out of 5 of my machines. The same build just won't work on number 5, and the only difference is that Quadro, so that makes no sense at all. I'll just build another machine I think. That ones too old anyway.
Thanks for the thoughts though.
