Beta Spotify for Kodi
Win11 here and seems to be working fine. Uninstalled the older one before installing this one.

0rphu, glad it works. The plugin code using '__terminate_streaming' is definitely tricky and I don't fully understand it. The Kodi video player is driving the http streaming so the plugin has to try and cope with what Kodi is requesting. I did put a comment a few lines down (line 44 in 'http_spotty_audio_streamer.py') about '__terminate_streaming'. Not sure how to handle your case though. Maybe an extra setting?

I've added a new plugin version 1.3.11 to https://github.com/glk1001/glk1001.github.io that fixes an issue with the get albums for artist options. Spotify recently made an API change that caused the plugin to return all albums and 'appears on' tracks for the get albums option. This can be a lot of items. I've fixed this and added 'Singles only', 'Appears on', and 'Everything' options.

If you can't see the new options, do the 'Clear the plugin cache' from the opening menu.

Great work on the addon! It’s running smoothly on my Windows setup. Curious about the Spotify Connect feature—any tips to stabilize it? Also, looking forward to the playlist removal feature once it's supported. Thanks for this awesome contribution!

glk1001, I installed the 1.3.11 on rpi3 running Omega, and after commenting out the terminate_streaming bit, it is working well. I also tried commenting it out on 1.3.11 running on x86 Linux (Nexus) and tried playing and skipping a couple of tracks and didn't noticed any issues. I think there are many possible reasons this code was introduced, but it might be possible, that current state of things no longer needs it on any platform. But it seems there have been no complaints, except mine. An additional setting would be nice, so that I don't need to comment it out after each update. Currently it is only a very minor inconvenience for me to comment the bit out, but in time I might forget what I did and next update could cause some head scratching on my end.

I noticed one very small thing, which might be a result of commenting out the stream terminating bit - sometimes I miss the first second of a track when playback starts. Maybe this is one of the uses of the stream termination, but personally I'd rather sacrifice the first second than everything past the first 5 seconds.

Can you try again. Do the first plugin menu option "Authenticate the plugin'. With the dialog box still open go to your other official Spotify app and select any track and start playing it. Now in the 'Connect to device' option select the 'Kodi-Spotty' device. Then close the offical app and press 'OK' on the Kodi dialog box. If it works, great, otherwise leave a link to the kodi log here.

Hi there,

I just installed the add-on on LibreELEC on a Raspbary Pi 3b.
The log in work perfectly but I have the problem that when I try to play a song, it just cycles through the music but doesn't play it.
You can see it in the video I have attached.

Hi,

like julholsch I have exactly the same issue.

Authentication fine, songs showing fine, but no audio playing. The songs are skipping quickly from the first to the last one.

Just a few days ago Spotify was working fine. Yesterday evening I went mad, because I thought I was doing something wrong. But actually I did not change anything on my system.
TuneIn Radio and other music streams are working fine.

I did the authentification process several times, cleared the spotify cache, deinstalled/reinstalled the spotify add-on, no success.
Any ideasHuh

System:
Raspberry Pi4, LibreELEC Omega 12.0.1, Kodi 21.1, Spotify 1.3.11

Thanks for the work
Karsten

Any chance of this ever working on Android? I run Kodi on Nvidia Shield Pros and currently use Pandoki (Pandora addon) but would like to have Spotify as an option.
