Linux Problem detecting HDR compliant display in Kodi 21 and Batocera Linux
#1
Hi,
I have an HP ProDesk 400 G4 mini with 2 Display Ports and 1 HDMI running Batocera Linux and Kodi 21 installed from Flatpak. Its connected to an LG Oled C3 TV by HDMI cable.
But when I run Kodi it says no HDR screen detected and I'm not able to view HDR videos correctly. I don't know what to do more to get it working so any help is appreciated.

I put a debug.log here https://pastebin.com/fGzATGYU

No HDR with X11.
Needs Wayland for HDR, and a capable cable.

  1. The log shows that you are not running 21.1 from the Flatpak but 20.5 from your distribution
  2. HDR only works with OpenGLES (the Flatpak is OpenGL) and only with GBM. The log shows you are running on X11.

My bad, I took the log before installing the flatpak newer version.
I wanted to have Batocera for my retro gaming and also use it for Kodi, but it seems that I'm in no luck.
Is there other Linux distribution that supports HDR in Kodi, for example Ubuntu?
Thanks

You could try LibreELEC Generic on a USB-stick.
https://libreelec.tv/downloads/generic/
There is also retrogaming addons in LE.
