Translations definitely work, if they did not we'd likely see the forums flooded with complaints

Perhaps you're working on different po files from other portable folders or the en_us file is so wonky it is being ignored.

I suggest setting up your en_gb file till it is perfect, copy all strings to en_us and lastly add any translations only for the words that need one (i.e. the ones you mentioned earlier like colour and customisation).

I will take this approach as clearly something is wrong... I did triple check I'm only working with the files within the skin folder en_gb/en_us.

Just tested here as well and they're working fine.

As said above you shouldn't be using that range for skins.

Anything outside in 31999+ is probably from my ignorance from way back at the beginning.... but I was cognizant of it back then and somehow just carried on like a bull in a china shop:

I would really like to blame Mr.V for it, but I know I can't because all his strings are within range, so it clearly is my fault....LOL. Damn him for staying within the lines.

I'll scrub the file for my needed adds and revert back to the original strings and add back and alter my code to match to stay within that range....

But I do see issues based on my thread I just linked, because I seem to be running out of room!

I only had a quick browse through your English strings file but I did notice some entries that are actually in the Kodi strings file.

ie "View options", "Artwork", "Installed", "Premiered", "Submenu".

So any duplicate can be removed from your file to make some more room.

Just to expand on that point, the skin language files should only contain strings that are unique to the skin (in this case Madnox), since the English & translated strings for Kodi functions will be in the core language files. So you should always check the core language files first before adding anything to your skin language files.

I found a huge clusterF in my files where it jumps from 31300 to like 600 or some odd thing and multiple missing # sequences. There is no way I'm going to try and reorder and fix all that so I said screw it and built a number tracker.

This way, I can see what is in use, what isn't and anything out of 31999 range I can push back in range to open values and rewrite the few files entries that were out of range... (like 16 or so?). So that is done.

Then I'm like, let's see dupes... well found 4 "crew" and multiple doubles... so there is some waste and issues here.

Should be easier to maintain going forward. I'll probably expand it to do a cross compare to the Kodi core file to my language files to ensure as mentioned, I don't have terms that don't need to be in my file.

Just a minor follow up, after I created the initial tool, I decided to take the leap and expand it to do other things like:

• In use numbers (counted)
  
• Unused numbers (counted)
  
• Duplicate IDs in the same file (counted)
  
• Diff between two files (any .po file to reduces waste - Counted)
  
• Display untranslated or translated strings (counted)
  
• Search and replace for Keywords or Strings for translation based on regionalization
  

So after building that tool, I found a bunch number/strings in my skin GB that were dupes of the core and removed them all, sync'd the skin gb to en 1:1, and then merged in all of my custom strings number aligned and sync'd between the gb and en skin language files. Added and replaced regional words, strings, and case values for the strings needed in my case.

Once that was done I updated all the skin files to the language files after all the work above was done. Only found one error in my skin code, easily corrected and it all seems to be finally scrubbed and operational. I'll have to do extensive testing to ensure nothing is broken or not visualized, but either way, it is complete after all the feedback. Back to finishing the other tasks.

I've been using KodiDevKit for so many years that po file handling has been a non issue for me.
Is this tool available to try out, if so, will the dupe finder fuzzy search to show any that have the term in it but not exactly be equal to?

I search on weblate directly in Kodi core as it will bring up close terms that might do the job but aren't exact
