Sick Beard - Automatic TV Show Episode download/sort/rename, nfo/tbn maker & TV Guide
Is it to my advantage to set this thing up to run from source? I assume that gets me the bleeding edge of the bleeding edge, right?

Any idea when a new "compiled" version will be available?
Reply
I will probably make a new compiled version soon, but if you want to check out new changes without waiting days/weeks you'll want to run from source.

I added 2 new providers last night but didn't test them much so let me know if there are any issues guys.

Wow, I'm officially confused. Anyone wanna write up a quick HOWTO to get the source and keep it updated (on Windows)?

it's pretty straight forward once you get python installed and configured on windows

-install python 2.6 (http://www.python.org/download/)
-install cheetah (http://pypi.python.org/pypi/Cheetah/2.4.2.1) & (http://www.cheetahtemplate.org/docs/user...stall.html)
-click download source button from sickbeard github (http://github.com/midgetspy/Sick-Beard)
-install sickbeard to a folder of your choice
-run sickbeard (python sickbeard.py) or ("c:\python26\python.exe" "c:\program files\sickbeard\sickbeard.exe")

then when you want to update to source, shutdown sickbeard and download the newest version from github. overwrite all the files in your sickbeard folder with the github source, and run sickbeard again.

That's the easiest way to keep it up to date

Any ideas why this is happening? I am stuck, the other three programs from yesterday downloaded to their correct folder, but not this one?

Is it same setup for sickbeard and MAC OSX when updating?

I have never installed Python or Cheetah on Windows, why do you need them? I just downloaded sickbeard and ran it and it has been working fine until about a week ago when it stopped finding any shows.

His instructions are for grabbing the latest source from git and running that, not the pre-compiled exes.

Some weird issues:

1: It doesn't look like Sickbeard will pull info from TheTVDB if the episodes don't have anything in the Original Air Date field. Using Profit as an example, Sickbeard sees all the info for the first five episodes, but gets an error when attempting to import the rest:

Code:
2010-05-21 03:59:17.481000 QUEUE-REFRESH :: Episode Season 01\Profit - S01E06 - Chinese Box.mkv returned an exception: Couldn't find episode 1x6
2010-05-21 03:59:17.512000 QUEUE-REFRESH :: Episode Season 01\Profit - S01E07 - Security.mkv returned an exception: Couldn't find episode 1x7
2010-05-21 03:59:17.559000 QUEUE-REFRESH :: Episode Season 01\Profit - S01E08 - Forgiveness.mkv returned an exception: Couldn't find episode 1x8

2: I've been using log files to address random file name issues in my collection. Today I have a couple of strange entries:

Code:
2010-05-20 20:25:41.512000 SEARCH :: This result appears to be a subtitle pack, ignoring: Nip.Tuck.S06.SUBPACK.DVDRip.XviD-REWARD
2010-05-20 20:55:55.169000 SEARCH :: This result appears to be a subtitle pack, ignoring: Nip.Tuck.S06.SUBPACK.DVDRip.XviD-REWARD
2010-05-20 21:26:03.356000 SEARCH :: This result appears to be a subtitle pack, ignoring: Nip.Tuck.S06.SUBPACK.DVDRip.XviD-REWARD
2010-05-20 21:55:28.372000 SEARCH :: This result appears to be a subtitle pack, ignoring: Nip.Tuck.S06.SUBPACK.DVDRip.XviD-REWARD
2010-05-20 22:24:26.075000 CP Server Thread-2 :: This result appears to be a subtitle pack, ignoring: Nip.Tuck.S06.SUBPACK.DVDRip.XviD-REWARD
2010-05-20 22:52:13.044000 CP Server Thread-6 :: This result appears to be a subtitle pack, ignoring: Nip.Tuck.S06.SUBPACK.DVDRip.XviD-REWARD
2010-05-21 01:52:26.903000 FINDPROPERS :: Unable to parse the filename The.Story.Of.Playboy.PROPER.WS.PDTV.XViD-NANO into a valid episode

The strange thing is I don't actually have these episodes or files in my collection. It's really strange.

3: Can someone tell me why Sickbeard would be trying to load a RSS feed for a site I've never used/heard of:

Code:
2010-05-20 16:25:14.840000 SEARCH :: Error trying to load TVBinz RSS feed: feed() argument 1 must be string or read-only buffer, not None
2010-05-20 18:55:16.325000 SEARCH :: Error trying to load TVBinz RSS feed: syntax error: line 1, column 0
2010-05-20 19:25:09.044000 SEARCH :: Error trying to load TVBinz RSS feed: syntax error: line 1, column 0
2010-05-20 19:55:18.575000 SEARCH :: Error trying to load TVBinz RSS feed: syntax error: line 1, column 0

Thanks!

ECEC:

1) Known issue: http://code.google.com/p/sickbeard/issues/detail?id=197
2) Those are things it found on the RSS feeds
3) Left over code from before - open your config and change "tvbinz" from 1 to 0.

bobrap: fixed in build 451

If somebody wants to meticulously document how to set up Git on Windows, the general steps are (stolen from sumofatguy, hehe):

1) Install Python
2) Install Cheetah (help)
3) Install MSysGit[/ur]
4) Install [url=http://code.google.com/p/tortoisegit/]TortoiseGit

5) Right click on a folder in My Computer, Tortoise Git -> Clone
URL: git://github.com/midgetspy/Sick-Beard.git
Directory: wherever you want SB to be installed
6) Double click on SickBeard.py (does this actually work? I do it from a command prompt)

Then you just right click on your SB dir and do a Git Pull when you want to update.

However, with the box check to alert XBMC of a new video, my XBMC does not update the library. Please see the following thread for more information. Can someone please help??

Having the same issue - Sickbeard is communicating with XBMC, and I get a popup notification that the file was downloaded, but the library does not automatically update.

Thanks for the quick response. On 3, it was already set to 0 but I saved over it anyway, we'll see if that works. Smile

For those of you running from Git, are there any major show stopping issues caused by doing so? I'm thinking about it, but don't want to interrupt my automation process.

ECEC: What build are you using? I think that might be just a bad log message that was fixed a long time ago...

Build 449 on Windows, so you might be right. Still toying with the idea of switching over to git for everything...
