Volume and brightness problems with xbmc 10
#1
Hi, I went from 9.11 to final 10, didnt try no rc.
I am having problems with the brightness and volume. The brightness one was easy to handle, I set the brightness and contrast to 54 and it looked great...the volume one is driving me nuts. I have to turn my tv to almost top volume to hear wvery conversation a amovie, then theres and explotion or something and every people in the house jump hahaha...

So two problems with sound:
1- very very low
2- I could use some kind of regulation option so everything sounds more even, I think there was one on camelot, just cant re me mber the name of it.

Thanks!

Ps: using zotac ion 330 via hdmi (audio and video directly to the tv) with windows 7 ultimate.

Extra question, the android xbmc remote app works great except for the remote option, is that normal?

I vaguely recall there's some known problem downmixing 5.1 sound to stereo, or something like that. It results in voices being very low while sound effects are very loud. Do you think that might the problem with your sound?

I tested it and yes, no problem with normal mp3 stereo movies. Just with any 5.1 source.

Any help? I ve been using the "output stereo to all speakers" option all the time...

I seem to be having a similar issue too. Zotac ION m/b, Win7 too using HDMI output to tv for both video and audio. Although, this is a new htpc for me so didn't think it was xbmc as such but just by chance saw this thread so will investigate further.

But as op put, i have to have my tv on double the normal volume range I would have had a little while ago too, will check with youtube vids to see if its just xbmc.

will come back with more info...

Make sure "Boost volume level on downmix" is on.

Same audio problem. XP on ION AC3 5.1 volume very low played from VOB or mkv. Same result on Windows 7 64-bit. Media Center plays fine.

Same here. Cannot remembering having this problem with 9.11....
Win 7 Ultimate, x64. VLC and WMP playing the same files with an entirely different volume.
HTPC based on a ASUS P5Q-EM running a Intel E4400 @ 2GHz with 8GB of PC6400 RAM. Windows 7 Ultimate x64 installed on a Samsung T166 SpinPoint 320GB while medialibrary is stored on a 2TB WD Caviar Green. Cat6 STP connects to a Linksys WRT610N which is connected to the Internet over a 100mbit/s fiber. HID is a Ace C5 Media wireless Trackball.

I have this issue too. The Volume on XBMC is much lower than all of the other applications on my system now. I have to keep my receiver at double the volume level for the same sound level as I had before.

It is not just the movie files that are low, all event sounds are low too.

Any ideas?
