I'm considering building an XBMC setup, but since I'll be using it with my DIY projector I have an unusual aspect ratio issue. The LCD panel I'm using (VGA input) is 16:9 widescreen, but it's sitting on top of an overhead projector that is roughly 4:3 (actually, it's 1:1, but 4:3 is good enough).
Can XBMC 1) change its aspect ratio (not just the aspect ratio of videos but the output of the entire UI as well) to 4:3 or something arbitrary, and 2) can it center the output in the middle of the screen w/o stretching (i.e., black bars on the left and right)? I intend to run it on Linux, so I can fiddle with xorg to arbitrarily limit the screen dimensions, but centering the output is driver dependent and thus not ideal.
