I am running xbmc from git (21/8/2011). Problem: How can I download the right movie information and artwork, if the automatic download failed to recognize that the movie is a remake? In the previous release there was an easy to access menu entry for this (right mouse button --> movie information, AFAIR).
Any helpful comment would be highly appreciated

usually you name the MOVIE_NAME_YEAR should do it (year gets taken off after) if its for remakes. This also applies to tv shows.
However once its done select movie press i for information or bring up contecxt menu select information and the refresh it will give you a list with all available movies that match, select correct one and walla.

Do you know that this "movie information" entry in the context menu is not shown sometimes? Is this on purpose?

its not show if you have a folder inside a folder and inside the movie. could be other reasons, xbmc does have a lot of "features" that really are aberrations in logic.
