Video Skip and Audio Passthrough drops after pause.

Spec:
Sound card: sound blaster live
Video Card: Nvidia 9400GT
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 2.80Ghz
Memory: 3gb (2.4GB free)

This is a fresh install of Kubuntu 11.04 And I have 2 Problems:

1)Playback is flawless (enabled vsync on the video card), except that every now and then I get these weird video freeze(then it speeds up to catch up to the sound) it happens in a split second, but it is noticeable. I tried disabling VPAU and changing the render mode, and sync. And nothing works.

2)When I pause the movie. If I hit play again, my machine wants to go from DTS/AC3 passthrough to 44khz PCM audio. Really odd behavior. I have to skip back a few seconds for the DTS/AC3 sound to come back.

Here is my log:

Thanks for your Help

ad 1) this seems to be a common problem, I have the same with vaapi, with or without "auto adjust framerate" Ususally the audio also gets out of sync after puase/play

ad 2) never noticed that, but also never paid attention lol

I even disabled the desktop effects on kubuntu...

No option give me a 100% "acceptable" playback.

I was running Windows 7, and that at least had a solid playback.

Should I scrap my install and do [XBMC Live]?

If I disable VDPAU, the playback skips constantly.

The sad part is, there is a Damn hurricane coming our way, and I got 3 movies to watch (if the power doesn't go out). I would hate to watch them with the intermittent skipping issue.

Please help.

make sure you have correct modelines in xorg.conf and try to disable sync audio to playback
