Hi-

I just stumbled upon this program and I think its almost exactly what I'm looking for. I'm having one issue right now that I'm hoping someone might be able to help me with. I have a number of tv shows formatted in the following manner:

Show NameA\Show NameA 1-1.mkv
Show NameA\Show NameA 1-2.mkv
Show NameA\Show NameA 2-1.mkv
...

My goal is rename all of the content into an XBMC compatible format. When I load up the directory in FileBot it does a decent job matching the episodes, but not perfect. I quite like how you can format the output format, but I don't see a way to easily tell it the input format. I actually thing I have the regex for the format mentioned above, but I'm not sure how to tell FIleBot what format to expect?

Any thoughts/ideas would be much appreciated!

Try the latest HEAD release. It'll have much better support for messed up SxE patterns than the current stable 3.4 release.

I just tried the latest HEAD release. The results are better, but not yet quite perfect. So in my collection I have one folder with all the files. There are four seasons each with 10-15 episodes. As mentioned, the current format is Show Name\Showname s-e.ext. For some reason the following episodes aren't matching:

Original Names --> New Names
showname 4-10 --> showname.S01.E10
showname 4-11 --> showname.S01.E11
showname 4-12 --> showname.S01.E12

All other episodes seem to have matched perfectly except those 3. Any ideas why? I'm thinking the following features would be great:
-If there was a way to just manually adjust those three to the proper episode.
-If there was a way to use your excellent formatting engine built for defining the output format to also be available to manually define the input format for matching.

Thanks again for your great work on this tool, and your response to my challenge. Let me know if you have any ideas. I'm sure I can slug through this manually, but since I have quite a few shows to clean-up I'm really hoping for a more automated solution. I've been using TV Rename in the past which lets you define a custom input mask using regex, but the interface and episode matching of your tool is much better. Also, your formatting wizard is much better than using regex.

The file<->episode matching algorithms I came up with for FileBot work completely different from what you're thinking. FileBot is giving you the best match. That can get wierd if there is no correct match.

If you give me the filenames I can check but I'm pretty sure TheTVDB episode data doesn't match your files. Maybe you have DVD order files but match with TheTVDB airdate order episode data where there is no S04E10. Something like that.

You can always use the fn:replace script to rename all your files from 4-10 patterns into SxxExx patterns. Won't make a difference though if the TheTVDB data doesn't match your files in the first place.

You can always fetch episode data in Episodes panel and then copy selected entries to Rename panel. All these tricks are explained and demonstrated in the video tutorial if you look closely.

That's pretty ugly. Especially that it's the German movie titles. It'd work much better with English titles.

In the GUI you can do SHIFT-click datasource and then manually input the the name of the movie for each file. For full automation you can use FileBot scripting to run through each files and force the part of the name before 13.01.31_22-20 as search query.

OK, I assume, that wouldn't let arise fun...

So, like it can be done in other renaming programs, I guess, without getting data from a data base on the Internet. I suppose, to remain the first part, the movie title, so just deleting the part after the title, would not be that easy.

Oh, my dear...a dona...thank you very much...it is a bit unpleasantly, but these file names just were an example for the kind of file names, there is a lot of more different parts of names, dates which can occur in these file names, so I assume, it wouldn't be possible to fix all that by adding them to this list.

Using some of the data bases doesn't seem to work that bad, but sometimes you have to confirm the entry of each single movie, how could you avoid it and let it be done automatically, is there a setting to be changed? And how can you stop a process, a data base query (without doing it with the Task Manager), when there occurs a confirmation window for each single movie?

And I found this little "Select / Ignore for all" button, but pressing it, nothing seems to happen.

As I see now after some tries, your program seems to run well for about the half of these kind of file names.

Where can I find the version number of the program? Is there an option to update it automatically?

The file names grayed out on the left side, how can I make a query for these files only (may be from another data base)?

Fixed it for movies with this:

Episodes can only be handled semi-manually since the filename doesn't contain any identifying information.

1.
Once you activate "Select / Ignore for all" it's kinda like a auto-repeater. Click Select and it'll auto-select each first entry. Click Ignore and it'll auto-ignore each selection.

2.
Press Ctrl+Shift+Delete to clear the cache. Next time you match movies it'll take longer but it'll be forced to grab the latest new data.

3.
If it's greyed out it can't find an acceptable match. Probably because the title is german. You can try a different datasource or changing language to german might help. In anycase you can always force input the (preferably english) movie name manually via shift-click datasource.

Yes, I assumed, it is the same handling like it is with the Windows copy or move function, but I cannot see any difference when I click the button, there seems to be no reaction, so that I could see, now it ignores for all, now it doesn't.

Well, the reaction is that you won't see the selection dialog anymore for this batch. If you don't click auto-repeat it'll keep asking you for each movie it's not sure about. It's very useful if you're matching hundreds of movies.
