I note several keymap errors that look as if they may have come from installing a nightly build over 10.1 then installing 10.1 again. Is this the case? If so, deleting the C:\Program Files\XBMC directory then doing a fresh install might help.

Did you try running videos from the SSD drive? You don't have to copy all the videos, just a few for testing.

No, I only installed 10.1 and haven't installed any other versions so far. Don't know about the keymap errors. I put some of my own keymappings in the advancedsettings.xml and I'm using Flirc. The keypresses work however and it would be rather strange if keymappings have do to anything with my encountered error phenomenon.

I tried now to watch a movie from SSD. It actually worked without freeze, but that might be pure luck since the log shows several different errors again Sad

I must admit I can't see any reason why you're getting those playback errors.

I would try resampling the Deathly Hallows video using something like Handbrake and see if you still get the errors.

hey there, thanks for your support.

The problem is that out of the approx. 7 movies I've watched lately, on 5 of them I've got the issue. As mentioned before, all of these movies play fine on other players. If I'd have to resample all movies just to be able to watch them properly that would be an insane amount of work without guaranteed success.

I've downloaded handbrake though and will try it on some movies. I guess the first thing I'm gonna do is to replay the movies I've got problems on and see if they happen again the second time I watch the movie

--> because somehow I have the feeling that it doesn't matter which movie I play, it's something else, an option, Win7? Graphic card? really getting lost here

Hi!

I am seeing the same issue and can not find the reason. I have been running 10.1 and nightly, same behavior. The system is a Win7 SP1 x64 with a NVIDIA 9400 GT Graphics card. All movies are stored locally on 4 WD 1 TB drives. All drivers are updated to latest version and I even tryed a Full reinstall of the system. The strange part is that the movie always stop at the same time, but runs fine in VLC.

This is a sample from the log.

If the movie always stops at the same place then it's almost certainly a problem in the video and resampling it should fix it. VLC appears to be a bit more tolerant of errors than XBMC.

Hey there, so here we go with another movie where the movie freezes at ~1h.30min. again. It is strange that it's always about the same time the freezes occur. I don't know a lot about these things, I'm not a programmer, but it really looks like this is a buffering issue, error buffering??

I would not care about those errors if they would not stop my movies. Resampling also didn't do a thing and the movies I rewatched stopped not at the exact same spots, so they are not broken files!

Here's the latest log:
http://www.silverstorm.ch/temp/xbmc_HP8-...emovie.log

these errors:
Code:
17:05:37 T:1820 M:3115073536   DEBUG: CPullupCorrection: detected pattern of length 24: 41000.00 42000.00 42000.00 42000.00 41000.00 42000.00 42000.00 41000.00 42000.00 42000.00 41000.00 42000.00 42000.00 42000.00 41000.00 42000.00 42000.00 41000.00 42000.00 42000.00 42000.00 41000.00 42000.00 42000.00
what do they mean? It seems to me that XBMC piles up those errors till a certain point and than crashes on them. As seen in the log, the movie is terminated but the point where the movie stopps is saved and I can continue watching from there.
However... as soon as the movie is continued, more errors appear. I could bet on it that the movie would again freeze after additional 1.5 hours, but unfortunately I don't have a movie which is that long.

I appreciate your help jhsrennie, but it seems that we are not getting anywhere near the solution here.
Is there anybody else, some senior XBMC programmer or whoever who has additional ideas on this matter or at least can explain what the errors mean and the root causes?
If I'd just knew where to search for. The two error patterns are:
1. CPullupCorrection errors
2. ffmpeg errors

Code:
20:47:57 T:2832 M:3084271616   ERROR: ffmpeg[B10]: [h264] Failed to begin frame
20:47:57 T:2832 M:3084271616   ERROR: ffmpeg[B10]: [h264] hardware accelerator failed to decode picture

If it is according to my own assumptions a buffering issue.... is there a way to increase the buffer size?

hoping to resolve this issues soon Sad

Gosh, you know how to make friends and influence people.

The problem you are seeing is not a problem in XBMC. How do I know this? Because the other million users of XBMC don't see the problem. So it's a problem with your PC, or Windows setup, or etc, etc. That's why it's very difficult to spot what's wrong.

If you have a movie that reproducibly stops at the same place, and you can upload it somewhere that I can grab it, I'm willing to try playing it on my test setups here and see if it also stops for me.

Hey JR, thanks man I appreciate it. First however I will have to find a movie which actually does stop at always the same time. Of course I know that the problem can be outside of XBMC, but even than I'd need to know where to look for. I didn't want to offend you by referring to other XBMC guys. I just need this problem fixed Sad
I purchased a Zotac ND22 Box, an SSD and 4 GB ram along with it and the only thing I installed on the system is Win 7 64bit, Flirc, HippoRemote and XBMC. I solely use the system for XBMC so a conflict with any other programs is highly unlikely.

On the other hand, it could of course be that the g-card or whatever on the ZBox causes issues...

It's an awesome advice to try the movies on a different system and check if the errors occur there as well, thanks, why didn't I come up with this Rofl.
Well I'll post the results after the test on my main computer.

Guys,

I've been having the same issue. Multiple movies, not all the time not always at the same time, on windows 7 and linux (openelec) see my thread:http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?p=9...post934744

Still no resolution.

There is one common thing across our setups though, external usb drive...

As I mentionned in my thread, is it possible that a good chunk of the movie is buffered and at some point, when xbmc tries to read more into buffer, the drive has spun down? And that would cause this :
WARNING: CDVDMessageQueue(video)::Get - asked for new data packet, with nothing available.

Because I also see the CPullupCorrection messages but not around the time the movie freezes. the move Freezes at the CDVDMessageQueue(video) message.

Just a thought!

ecopsorn, did you try to run the movies off of your SSD? Were you able to reproduce the problem or did it run fine multiple times?

First of all, thank you for posting and I'm sorry you're experiencing this issue as well. On the other hand, I'm glad that I'm not the only one Eek

I've tried to play one movie from the SSD disk and the same troubles occurred, namely:
Code:
21:55:43 T:2524 M:3111108608   ERROR: ffmpeg[9DC]: [h264] Failed to begin frame
21:55:43 T:2524 M:3111108608   ERROR: ffmpeg[9DC]: [h264] hardware accelerator failed to decode picture
and
Code:
22:04:01 T:2524 M:3131219968   DEBUG: CPullupCorrection: detected pattern of length 24: 41000.00 42000.00 42000.00 42000.00 41000.00 42000.00 42000.00 41000.00 42000.00 42000.00 41000.00 42000.00 42000.00 42000.00 41000.00 42000.00 42000.00 41000.00 42000.00 42000.00 42000.00 41000.00 42000.00 42000.00
22:04:14 T:1432 M:3121655808   DEBUG: CDVDPlayerAudio:: Discontinuity - was:4708022720.322059, should be:4708032729.954144, error:10009.632085

As you can see from my several posts, this issue is not related to a single movie. All movies I've played so far through XBMC (except 1, probably luck...) stopped around the middle of the movie. I have 10 logs now saved up already.
I am still trying out several things to figure out what the problem could be.

Currently I'm trying to rewatch (or rather let the log create) some movies I had freezes on on another system (main computer). So far I've logged 2 movies on my main computer. One of them didn't show errors in the log, the second one showed errors but not the same ones and didn't freeze.

For me that's too early to judge on what's wrong.

My next steps:
- Watch more movies on my main computer XBMC setup (also Win 7) and see if freezes occur
- Replay some of the logged movies on my HTPC setup and see if the patterns are similar to the previously created logs.

I would reinstall Win7 on my HTPC if that helps, but without any clue what could be wrong, I keep on testing stuff until I make this step.

I would appreciate if you could share any news about these issues so that we will hopefully both have a running system soon.

thx

Well, so much for my USB guess!

I have tried playing with the amount of shared memory to see if that would change anything to the buffering but nothing changed.

Also regarding your Win7 reinstall, I seriouly doubt that this would solve anything... I have the same issues running on Win7 and linux. So it's either a hardware compatibility or software issue.

Please continue to update this thread with your findings.

About the hardware part, I'm running on a ZOTAC ZBOX HD-ND22. I've heared only good things about the Zbox here in the forums and haven't read a single line where somebody else owning a Zbox reported similar issues.

Maybe it's just a silly option we have or haven't enabled in XBMC... sometimes it's the small stuff that make the big problems, but we'll see.

I'll post everything useful about my testing.

Ok,

I have tested something else. Since in the log, when the movie freezes, there is a "ffmpeg matroska read error", I thought I would convert the mkv to mp4 to see if the problem would still be there.

So, I used "ffmpeg -i input.mkv -vcodec copy -acodec copy output.mp4" to make sure that nothing was re encoded.

And put the resulting file on the same usb drive as the mkv. And I have played the file 10 times without having any "CDVDMessageQueue(audio)::Get - asked for new data packet, with nothing available" Warnings or ffmpeg[AB667B70]: [matroska] Read error.

I still get a few CPullupCorrection: but that doesn't seem to affect the playability of the file.

Before I go on a convert spree, I was wondering is your issues were also with mkv files and if you would test this as well.

This could be a bug in ffmpeg with matroska files.
