[Linux] Unable to open display?
#1
I just installed linux minimal Karmic, using this quide:
http://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/xci/vi...p?f=11&t=2

Then I attempted to install xbmc using the xci.sh script, and that seemed fine, it installed the nvidia 185 driver, although I can't get xbmc to work.

When I'm trying to launch it, I keep getting:

"unable to open display", "cannot connect to X server".

When trying to launch 'startx' I get "fatal sever error: no screens found"

/var/log/Xorg.0.log states:
Code:
KDSETMODE failed: Bad file descriptor
VT_GETMODE failed: Bad file descriptor
VT_GETSTATE failed: Bad file descriptor

What does it mean? How do I fix that?

The hardware I have is:
Sharp 46" LC-46LE700E LCD TV, connected via HDMI
Core 2 Duo 2,4 Ghz
EVGA 680i Motherboard
2GB Ram
Gaintech Nvidia GeForce GT520

Let me know if you need any additional info.
