[Mini-ITX] A6-3600 (4x2.1Ghz/2.4Ghz) + HD6530D
I'm trying to put this together and hit my first hiccup: where do I put the ssd? I have the motherboard in, but don't know where I'm supposed to mount the hard drive.

Also - there seems to only be an attachment for the 15 pin power segment. Is that right?

Thanks so much (again).

Check this out- post #5

>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC

>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!

Built this machine to the exact specifications and I love it, but I can't seem to get the display working correctly. I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 with the proprietary drivers for the graphics card, but the display is off on my 1080 toshiba 46 inch. The display is just a bit too large and stretches out so that the Unity panel on the left is barely visible.
I have tried several versons of drivers but am having little luck. Anyone else have this problem?

I always have this problem. I just use the video calibration in XBMC to fix it.

Hi all,

I am reading xbmc.org for weeks or even month now. Meanwhile I came to the conclusion to build a system on my own instead of one of buying one of the Zboxes.

My goal is to build a true group 7 HTPC.

Important to me is High Definition audio support (DTS HD MA, Dolby True HD) via my Pioneer VSX-2020 AV-Receiver and full 3D capability from 1080p material (mkv, avi and so on) since I am going for a 3D TV sometime in the future.

There will be no gaming with this machine. I only use it as an HTPC which I want to feed with Win7 (Maybe XBMC Live or Openelec for testing). I can imagine that I also will be interested in fooling around with DSPlayer and madVR in order to pimp the picture quality.

Based on your suggestions in the first post of this thread I built up this system here:
https://www.digitec.ch/Startseite.aspx?w...ew=product (hope the link works)

Antec ISK 300-65
ASRock A75 A75M-ITX, AMD A75, Socket FM1, Mini-ITX
AMD A6-3650 APU, 2.6GHz, Socket FM1, 4C/4T
Corsair Vengeance, 2x4GB, DDR3-1600, Low Profile, [email protected]
Corsair Force3 60GB, SATA-3, 2.5 Zoll

This setup is app. 360 EUR or 470 US$.

Since here in Switzerland not all of your suggested components are available or out of stock I had to exchange some stuff. Especially the case but also the processor had to be switched. Also I added RAM and a 60GB SSD which I would guess is enough for Win7 and XBMC only.

Instead of the A6-3600 (not available) I chose the next better A6-3650. My concern is that the A6-3650 takes 100W an my chosen case has only a 65W power supply. Will this be a problem? Do I need a higher power supply for this processor?

Apart from that this case is according to Toms HW guide quite a good piece for the money.

If you look at my setup does everything fit toghether?
Will the chosen RAM work with this motherboard? What about the SSD?
Did I miss something?
What I also don't know is if the processor comes with a fan or if I have to buy it separate.

I am so thankful for your advices.

Greets,

Jarjar

no no no,,,
your trying to power a 100W TDP APU using a 65W PSU!!
dont do that!!

either drop to the 65W TDP A6-3500 APU and use the ANTEC ISK300-65 htpc case

or buy the ANTEC ISK300-150 htpc case + A6-3650 APU

or get the ANTEC ISK300-65 htpc case + 135W power brick + A6-3650 APU

Hey eskro,

Thanks for the super fast reply.

Yes, that's kind of what I've thought...
I just saw that the A6-3500 APU is available to in my favorite shop. Do you think it has enough horse power to handle my needs?

But I guess taking the ANTEC ISK300-150 would be more future proof, wouldn't it? I mean maybe two years from now I want to pimp the system with a new proc that needs more power...?

You know I am rather the type of guy to spend a lil' more and have it future proof than beeing the cheapest possible. Unless it gets to expensive... Smile

What about the rest of my setup? Is everything okay like this?

Thanks again.

I was looking to build my first htpc, and I was searching for the processor in the first post and the link is dead or moved.

Would this one work?
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0055ZC...PDKIKX0DER

With this motherboard...
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005JI5...PDKIKX0DER

With this case/psu...
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001H0B...PDKIKX0DER

Of course the fan from the first post...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6835226042

Now the RAM. It wasn't mentioned in the first post but I'm assuming there are many different speeds you could pop in this mobo. Would this be ok with it all?
http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Technolog...pd_sim_e_3

I already have a SATA 3 harddrive from my old system that I will toss in there.

Now if this is all good, looks like I can get all this for under $300 which would be sweet. Any help or recommendations is appreciated.
Thanks
