would this mce receiver be ok for xbmc?

hiSmile

been using the android app on my phone for a while now, i already have 2 harmony remotes and think that my wife would find it easier if it was all off one remote.

anyway, would something along these lines here be ok?

if not could anyone recommend a known dongle that works and doesn't break the bank?

thanks in advance Smile

I bought an HP IR receiver from Ebay and it worked right out of the box. It was not the same as in your link, but if I were you I'd be willing to bet the $8 that it will work Smile

If its a real HP receiver, it should work fine...

Other IR receiver, mostly interesting for European users, can be found here:

what about using live/openelec?

if it isn't, are there any straight off the shelf that are compatible?

I had to force windows to manually search for the right driver using Device Manager for my HP IR receiver but it eventually found it.

In my case it was for a Live install. Didn't have to do anything, just plugged it in, set my Harmony to MCE and it all worked.

for linux, HP receivers can be a hit and miss...
thats why in my HTPC guide i at least list to some usb receivers that
are known to work with linux.
