I tried upgrading to the 5 beta 14 and lost access to nearly all of my shares. No amount of .cfg tweaking or permission script running would get them back! I'm back on release 4 having wasted quite a few hours I'm sad to say...

As it happens I have spare Atom/ION machines so I'm going to setup sab/sick on one of those and move my SQL server over for XBMC. Some of the issues I've read about with arrays not wanting to shut down and needing a drive that wasn't in the array discouraged me. Perhaps after awhile I'll try again. I think setting up an unRAID server from scratch for this would alleviate the share access errors at least so you should be golden!

I'll keep following your build as I know others who will be interested and I might yet be tempted back. I think I'd use an old IDE drive for data though and not waste a SATA port. Cache drives really don't buy you much speed I've found since a rev of SAMBA awhile back sped things up.

I hate to run yet another machine but at least this one will be very low wattage :-)
