start->run
cmd (a commandline)
ipconfig

see what's listed under dns there. try that ip
spiff, this probably gave his routers ip address at any rate.

network problems are hard to diagnose when there are no tools handy for use. be pretty good if there was the facility to ping, dns lookup and trace from xbmc.

at this point, i think the problem is quite strange.
- any firewalls running on your router?
- if you port-forward/tunnel from your router to your xbox on port 80 or 21, can you access these services from outside your lan?

is it possible that the network status under "system info" is talking about the ethernet interface? but if this is the case, then why can you get rss feeds?

have you tried another build?

i'm having a similar, but definately more odd xbmc internet issue. i'm running xbmc 30-05-2005.
-smb works
-xlink works
-shoutcast (internet radio) works
-weather works
-ftp works
but...
-imdb not working
-python scripts not working
-rss not working
-xbmc info page says 'not connected to internet'

anyone have any ideas? the functions that are listed as 'not working' - have never worked, on any version; while those that are working, have always worked. what am i doing wrong? :help:

possibly dns, check logs for dns errors, if you got those errors, you need to set dns correctly
