XBMC vs. DVArchive 3.0 (ReplayTV)?
#1
has anyone had any success getting xbmc to work well with dvarchive 3.0?

i am having the following problems:

1. if i use an "rtv://*/" path, xbmc can find files on my real replaytv unit, but doesn't find anything on dvarchive.

i get this message in the dvarchive log:

06/21 16:51:04 notice: upnp:: dvarchive has received a request that all dvrs identify themselves - responding

and this in the xbmc log:

21-06-2005 16:51:00 info activating window id: 10006
21-06-2005 16:51:00 info attempting to default to:
21-06-2005 16:51:08 error dns lookup for * failed: 11001
21-06-2005 16:51:08 error texture manager unable to load file: q:\skin\project mayhem iii\media\rtv://*/172.25.19.77/folder.tbn

2. now if i try to use an "rtv://172.25.19.76/video/" path, i get this in the dvarchive log:

06/21 16:51:17 error: error processing served request from dvr 172.25.19.104 -- for input string: "<html><head><title>document error: site or page not found</title></head>"

3. if i play a video file from a real replaytv, then go back and try the "rtv://172.25.19.76/video/" path again, i get this in the dvarchive log:

06/21 16:52:33 notice: client 172.25.19.104 is requesting 'ls' for [video]
06/21 16:52:34 error: request by client for info on file/dir [america-s test kitchen - america-s chocolate cake.tbn] which does not exist
06/21 16:52:34 error: request by client for info on file/dir [america-s test kitchen - america-s lemon cc.tbn] which does not exist
... (same message for every other video file in dvarchive) ...
06/21 16:52:39 error: request by client for info on file/dir [buffy the vampire [admin note - 5.22 the gift.tbn] which does not exist

but, it does display the files in xbmc (yay).

4. however, it takes a really long time, and all files are displayed with a size of 0.1kb (boo).

5. if i select a file and play it, i get this in the dvarchive log:

06/21 16:53:12 error: request by client for info on file/dir [america-s test kitchen - america-s chocolate cake.utf] which does not exist
06/21 16:53:15 error: request by client for info on file/dir [america-s test kitchen - america-s chocolate cake.utf8] which does not exist

06/21 16:53:24 error: error writing file footer/end chunk for m:\replaytv\local_guide\america-s test kitchen - america-s chocolate cake.mpg to remote client -- software caused connection abort: socket write error
06/21 16:53:34 error: request by client for info on file/dir [america-s test kitchen - america-s chocolate cake.tbn] which does not exist

it does seem to play ok though.

does anyone know any fixes or workarounds for the above, or should i just file a bug report?

thanks...

yes, that's the filename. it's just a tv show i recorded. i don't know why it looks funny to you.

because the filename is very very very long.. possibly too long for xmbc to parse properly and thus when it sends requests to the dvarchive device its being truncated.. which means its asking for a file that doesn't exist..

i don't think anyone was commenting on the content of the title.. it was the length and spaces etc that look odd.

i guess it's more accurate to say it's a show name rather than a filename (although dvarchive uses it as a filename also). it's normal in the rtv/dvarchive world. xbmc has no problem with the same show names on a hardware rtv device. i really don't think it's relevant to the problem.
