How do i access the settings menu?
#1
Hi

I recently changed the skin for one of the skins that come with xbmc on apple tv 2.

I have somehow managed to hide the settings menu from the home page and,now can't get back in to change anything.

Does anyone know how to get back into the settings menu or unhide it?

Cheers

Vicki

It would help if you would us what skin you're using but try bringing up the Shutdown Menu (press 's') and see if it's available from there.

No "s" key as its atv2 Wink. A bit of a long way but could map the settings menu to a key for now to get it loaded once?

No Shutdown Menu on the ATV2 either. It will simply quit XBMC if you try to bring up the Shutdown Menu.

Sounds like it would be easier to just reset the skin settings by deleting guisettings.xml: iOS_FAQ#SkinChange (wiki)

Thanks Ned but the link you gave me just sends me to a generic list of problems.

I have looked through them but can't find my specific problem there?

Please can you or anyone else be more specific please.

Thanks

Huh, maybe the link didn't like your browser. In any case, here's what you need to do:

SSH into the ATV2 using username:mobile and password:alpine

then type in

Code:
rm /private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/XBMC/userdata/guisettings.xml

and that should be it. Your skin settings should now be reset.

Or if you want to keep all your GUI setting but just change skin edit that file, look for <skin>NAME_OF_SKIN</skin> and delete the current one.
