i have an Acer Aspire revo 3700 running XMBC live and also a Apple TV 2 running XBMC.

my external Media HD is plugged into the Acer and has all of my media on it.

can someone please tell me if it is possible to access all of the files available on the external media HD from both devices?

if so, please tell me how.

Yes, via file sharing such as NFS (wiki) or SMB (wiki).
