That should not be necessary. Just replace the MediaElch directory. :-)
We haven't done any changes to the SQL database so that hasn't changed (i.e. don't delete the Appdata folder for MediaElch). There are some format changes of certain setting keys and values (which are are stored in the registry on Windows) but those should not affect the usage of MediaElch.
I recommend to _only_ remove them if you experience issues with MediaElch. And then only after you reported them (because it may be a bug in MediaElch which I need to fix). :-)
