Req add "imdb id" for smart playlists
#1
It would be great to use the "imdb-id"-field (and/or other scraper-IDs) to generate smart playlists.

This would make it possible to create dynamic/smart playlist for everyone no matter what language you use.

See my "Award Nominees-Playlist" for example. http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?t=118481

I suppose it would be possible to scrape a page and then use python to generate a playlist based on that. I just have absolutely no idea how that would actually be done :)

I already wrote a script (shell) to scrape the movie-titles and generate a playlist.

The problem is that the smart-playlist doesn_t work very well, because the movie-titles from imdb.com and my german titles don't macht 100%.
Even I tried to use the german imdb-titles, but XBMC sometimes uses an alternative german title.

To generate a 100% working smart-playlist it would be necessary to use the IDs of the movies.
Then you could also share the playlists with others, who might use different languages.

It can't be that hard to add this one field to smartplaylists. Undecided

Unfortunately, I have no experience in developing.
But I think you could just add a few lines of code to to the source (https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/blob/master...ayList.cpp) and create a patch.

Maybe this field also works for TMDB-IDs and other scraper-sites.

I guess I need to use a work-around for this award-season. Confused

It's not that hard but we are in feature freeze and adding a new field to smartplaylists is a feature. Therefore we have to wait until Frodo final has been released.
