HD audio hardware

Hi all,

Have not touched XBMC since my xbox 1 many many years ago. I have missed it Smile and am now looking to get a small machine running XBMC under my TV.

I have a mid range Onkyo amp and plan to play HD MKV files with various HD audio formats (Dolby Digital / DTS MA / True HD etc..)

My files are hosted on a NAS (QNAP)

What hardware should i be looking at? I am UK based and was looking at the revo range but was worried about HD audio support.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance Smile

Probably 95% of modern builds support HD audio via HDMI. Any modern Nvidia or AMD GPU/APU supports it. Pick and choose any of the many builds posted here or look at putting togethr your own equipment list and check here to make sure it will be suitable for you.

Hi and thank you for the information. I have since done a silly amount of reading but i must admit (as with most things) i read a lot of conflicting info.

I was looking at the zbox ID84, spec wise it seems to be up to the task e.g:
dual-core Intel Atom D2550 and a nvidia GT520M

But on the other hand i then read people have issues getting hardware playback of 1080p content and have to do it via software (and that is rubbish)
Plus HD audio does not work as intended with XBMC.

Any thoughts? Smile
