Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding
#46
So as an update to my 1080p BDMV playback issues with MX Player and Android Movie Player, it turned out WiFi was the problem.

After reading Darjk post, I decided to try 20121210 again, and video was still stuttering, so I switched to ethernet, and boom, no stutter.

Unfortunatelly, I still can't get AMLPlayer to play anything with multiple XBMC builds.

I tried 3 builds on both 20121210 and 20130108 firmware:
- the MYGICA build (AMLPlayer is not the default player, so you need to manually select it, otherwise it uses the DVDPlayer with this build) XBMC crushes when using AMLPLayer
- the XIOS build, XBMC also crushes, but I expected it, as there is a check for Pivos hardware in the XBMC code
- GBox midnight build, from the first post in this tread, also crushes when trying to use AMLPlayer

I also noticed my video playback would lockup after few minutes over ethernet with MX Player or Movie Player on 20121210, don't have this issue on 20130108.

The good news, I am very surprised how well the latest XBMC nightly without AMLPlayer handles 720p video streams, and that is what I primarly use XBMC for, so I decided to for now stay at 20130108 and use MX Player for my 1080p BDMVs over ethernet, and I am using latest XBMC nighlty with no hardware decoding for plugings.

I have to say the playback experience is improving with Android.
