Remote Power Down NAS Drive
#1
I use my AsRock Vision 3D connected via LAN to a gigabit switch, giving access to my ReadyNAS NVX and the internet. One of the ideas that I thought would be useful would be to remotely switch off my NAS drive when I switched off the AsRock. I have LM Remote in the AsRock for those occasions when I want to create some sort of macro. Anyway, I set the power off setting in the LM Remote to do three things:
1. Switch on Firefox (do nothing until it is running)
2. Switch off Firefox
3. Power off the AsRock
Now the trick is to set the home page of Firefox to:
https://<your NAS address>/get_handler?PAGE=System&OUTER_TAB=tab_shutdown&INNER_TAB=NONE&shutdown_option1=1&command=poweroff&OPERATION=set
I imagine this would work for other NAS drives
Step 2 might be redundant for a full power off but I have power off set to hibernate. With step 2, I'm not confronted with Firefox when it comes out of hibernation
