I use a Zotac D2700. The box also runs the tv backend (vdr).
Graphics is done by the GPU. You would see the CPU load rising when you hit the limits of the GPU. That's most likely the reason why people think some skins require a powerful CPU.

My i3 2100t has always macroblocked in many of my movies and shows. Driver updates and XBMC updates never seem to help.

My new amd zotac AD12 running Openelec, on the other hand, has been flawless.

I am searching for D2700 instead of D2550 just because of Boblight addon. But i think i will go with D2550 since D2700 is nowhere to get.

Actually HD Audio is working out of the box with Intel Ivy Bridge graphics. You just need a recent Linux kernel (>= 3.7).

So I'd also go for the Intel Ivy Bridge HD graphics.

Hi

@vfred - what exactly kernel version you have and what distro? I have ubuntu 12.10 and kernel 3.5.3-030503-generic #201208252335 and I have problem with dts-hd/ma audio on my xbmc-12rc3.

@illiac4

The Zotac ID84 seems to be generally same Hardware as Zotac D2700 mobo, only its a complete machine as long as you dont get a barebones system.

that one should suffice. It does work for quantal, don't be fooled by the name
