Req How do we add Multichannel PCM support to the Pi?
#1
I have begun to rip my Blurays recently, and am encoding in multichannel AAC. I've encountered two issues w/r/t audio with the Pi.

1) 7.1 AAC doesn't play back at all.
2) Multichannel audio (AAC, AC3, DTS, whatever) is always downmixed to stereo, unless bitstreamed.

I know my receiver can handle multichannel PCM, but it seems like it needs to be enabled in XBMC/OMXplayer for the Pi. I would do this myself if I knew where to start...

This code from OMXplayer looks relevant...

What seems to be the analogous file from AE in xbmc-rbp

I'd like to see this too. All my DVDs are encoded with 5.1 AAC.

I am also very interested in this feature. Nothing new for this problem ?
Is it possible to exploit the AERemap.cpp file to obtain such a feature ?

I've heard this feature is low priority. I can't understand why, surely a lot of people have multi channel AAC files they want to play?
