adding new add-on sources
#1
Hi,

I just installed XBMC on my note 2 and I'm trying to add some new sources for video add-ons. the website says to go into settings, then file manager, then add source and a dialogue should pop up for me to add the source. I get to the point of clicking add source but no dialogue pops up so I can't add any new sources. any ideas on how I can fix this?

thanks!

Welcome to the XBMC forums.

Your post is a bit cryptic. Which website are your talking about? Please provide the URL.

Typically, you install add-ons by going into System/Settings > Add-ons > Get Add-ons > select the repository > select the add-on category > select the specific add-on.

Additional add-ons may be provided by third-party repositories, where you would download a zip file from the third-party site and use the "Install from zip file" option to install the repository, and then you will be able to install an add-on from that repository as described in the paragraph above.

Thanks for the welcome.

I was looking at this website: http://www.xbmchub.com/blog/2012/04/24/f...-for-xbmc/

specifically, it's step 3 in their instructions that I'm stuck at. when I click "add source" nothing happens. is there another way to do this? a zip file on the website I didn't see maybe?

Why would you ask us about some other website's instructions when that site has their own forum? xbmchub is their own little unofficial island that we have nothing to do with.

because I thought the problem might be due to XBMC android being in beta, not due to their instructions. and because if anyone can give me the correct advice on how to use an app the right way, it would be the app's creators. seemed logical to me.

Sorry, it's just we keep having issues with people confusing the two sites.

So the issue here is that you can't add new sources in file mode? What they did is tell people to use an http source to make it easy to download add-on zip files for the "install from zip" option. It should work on android, or at least I am not aware of the file manager having issues adding sources.

not a problem

so other people can add sources? maybe I should try reinstalling XBMC, see if that fixes the problem.

edit- figured it out. clicking add source just highlights the option. I then had to press the menu button on the phone to actually select it. that might be something to update in future versions for touch friendliness in android.

Please do not hijack someone else's thread, especially when your questions don't directly relate to the original subject of this thread. Instead, start your own thread in the appropriate forum.

You cannot add streaming links to Live TV. See here for a description of what Live TV entails: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=PVR
If you want help setting up links to streaming video sites, check the "Video Add-ons" forum for threads such as the following: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=97116 and http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=120418

Further discussion of these topics should be conducted in the appropriate threads in the appropriate forums.

Sorry about the late reply, but this *is* about XBMC and not Fusion.
Simple answer: the Android version requires a double-click for "Add Source".

I know your issue sounds similar, but you know what? That advice still stands, despite the four years that have passed since it was written.

Start a clean thread, please - we may also need a debug log (wiki) to see what's going on, but describing your issue more clearly would be a good starting point. It sounds like you're at the right screen, you simply need to navigate to your media before defining the source and source type/scraper.
