You can expect certain aspects of the skin to be broken or not working at this stage as it is still being updated but the incompatible message is nothing to be alarmed about - as before, it simply means that the skin isn't "official" yet.

Regarding your bonus question, kind of. You can't just make other viewtypes appear in other sections or mix and match viewtypes from one skin to another through a simple move or changing a file name. You would need to get into the guts of each intended viewtype and modify A LOT of stuff or even if you built your own view from the ground up you'd still need to modify the intended skin so it knows how to "see" or use your new view. So it can be done. But it isn't a simple undertaking. If you're confident with XML or just have a lot of patience it is possible.
