thanks for the reply. I'm following these threats too. So this is still a work in progress?! The last commit on Gimlis github was nearly 3 month ago.

looks like the xbmc 11 from the linaro repo that doesn't use hardware acceleration for video playback. So nothing special here?!

Well, my 2x O-Droid U2's finally arrived yesterday. They are really impressive.. only played with Android on it at the moment but it's very snappy.
Just waiting for the Linux image to download, but I can see this being a nice XBMC solution once XBMC plays nice with the Mali chip... I read something on the ODroid forum that they are currently waiting for a fix on XBMC working via X11 GLES.

this looks interesting, but it looks like it is not hardware accelerated:

Unfortunately nothing new there.. it's running XBMC 11 (Eden) unless my eyes deceive me.

There is some issue in the newer builds that means you just end up with a black screen at startup Sad

Hopefully some of the clever XBMC devs will get around to a fix - until then my two ODroid's are sat on a shelf, as Android doesn't really cut it at the moment.

Davilla was playing around with Odroid U2 IIRC, so maybe there is some build out there already that doesn't have this black screen issue, or maybe he was just using Android. Smile

So you use android for your two odroid boards? Or you still waiting for a usable linux build with hardware acceleration? Do you have tried archlinux arm? I haven't understand if for that build hw accel is available or not.

I don't use anything at the moment as I'm waiting for a working linux build - I tried android but it doesn't play HD-TV well, and since we are running XBMC for our PVR/Live that is no good to me.

As far as I know, there is no working XBMC for linux (other than the eden build) on the ODroid regardless of distro.
Even then, the Eden build does not feature HW Accel, just 'working' video - an improvement over newer builds that just give a black screen.
There is some work that one of the XBMC devs done on github for HW Accel support of the Exynos chip.. but as far as I know, nobody has managed to actually try it out on the odroid, since all the builds it applies to just start to a black screen Sad

This is a very bad news for me... I think that I'll buy a raspberry pi for my bedroom and I'll build a custom pc (with amd A-series CPU) for the living room...

HW accel is mandatory for me, and I want to have the possibility to stream files from my nas.

Good news is that someone has just posted on the odroid forum to say they have patched the exynos branch to 12.2 and have managed to get it working on the odroid.

Still early days but nice to hear signs of progress! :-)
