Broadcom BCM970015 without CrystalBuntu

Is it possible to install the Broadcom card in the AppleTV 1 (silver), keep the hard drive drive, run Eden, and still get 1080p without installing Linux or Frodo? I have no desire to remove the hard drive because I'd rather not stream my videos.

You do not need to remove the hard drive to install Crystalbuntu. You were probably using a guide that suggests removing the HDD to reduce noise. You could still do this and replace it with a SSD for the same effect, but it really isn't necessary. Even without disconnecting the system fan (louder than an HDD), my ATV1 is virtually silent. If you can hear a HDD spinning inside there, you might want to apply for a job with the CIA! Wink

Everything I have read about CB online suggests the UI and overall system performance to be vastly superior to the AppleOS (with or without XBMC), so I see no reason not to run CB.
