Previously i received the XBMC apk file from Visson which had the same set of addons and repositories embeded as the Matricom's version, thus I guess they just repacked the Prometheus XBMC apk replacing with their custom spash screen.

Prometheus IPTV logo (old apk) or Frodo 12.0 logo? Asking because I built 2 or 3 versions of XBMC apk-s for Prometheus (Visson actually - it's visson's atv-106 model). All my sources are on https://github.com/Stane1983 except for patch for Android 4.2.2 (Amlogic jellybean 2013-04-30 and newer - LibPlayer headers changed). Because I do have SLA and NDA signed with aml, don't want to break any rules with aml, did not check with my aml contact how to solve this issue.

@davilla, feel free to contact me regarding issue mentioned if you have more experience with SLA and aml. My mail is on github page.

XBMC doesn't reproduce video and crashes randomly if video is played. Replacing header files in tools/android/depends/libamplayer/libamplayer/include with ones from aml source tree solves the issue.

Eh, I'm not sure what that has to do with SLA/NDA and AMLogic Smile

AMLogic constantly changes those structures with little regard for backward compatibility. Been dealing with that from day one. Notice how there is a reserved entry in play_control_t, giving the suggestion of backward compatibility. Normally, one adds values right before this entry and decrement the array value to maintain the order and fixed size of the struct. But then they go and promptly ignore it and stick additional values right smack in the middle of the struct. Go figure...

OR

OR None of the above

Can you kindly recommend, prefer out of the box solution - mainly for my content and netflix

Have a look into DroidBOX M6 (http://droidbox.co.uk/products/droidbox-M6), it has external antenna and very decent price/performance/quality ratio.

I just built an XBMC machine on a hacked Amazon FireTV (Android) and I was shocked at how well everything performed, including streaming 1080 HD movies over wifi. I runs xbmc just as good as the HTPC I built for over $1000. Buy one of these for $99 and don't look back. If you do go this route, make sure you download Amazon FireTV utility app. Had I found that right from the start, my rooting and setup of the box would have been cut down quite a bit.

FireTV for $62 out the door nowadays is a no-brainer. It is amazingly snappy for such a small box.

Any updated recommendations on this topic? I have an old GBOX with J1NX B2 and it runs great and wanted to get a couple more. Ordered a couple off Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M2TX...UTF8&psc=1) but using the toothpick reset method I could not scroll the reset menu with the remote so I could not flash with my old copy of J1NX. Just wondering what they did to change the manufacturing to prevent the flashing and is there an alternative box. FireTV is an option but I'm a cheapo and at $99 its more than I want to spend.

Hello all im new here and im considering some android box. First of all i have to say what i dont need this to do
- i dont need Live TV
- i dont need stream TV
- i dont need netflix,hulu, google play movies, web browser, chat, camera,photo gallerys, music players,social networks, etc. (i have chromecast)
- wifi is not important for me (ill use ethernet wire)
- i dont need play games

for me is important play mkv 1080p (if possible that prepare for upcoming 4K) movie on my Panasonic TV via Kodi.
Im considering those boxes:
* Xtreamer Wonder
* NEO X8-H Plus
* Tronsmart Vega S89
* CX-S806 Amlogic S812
* Allwinner A80
* Tronsmart Orion R28
* MK902II
they all have very similar specs so i dont know whish one is good to use but i think that Tronsmart Orion R28 Meta have best price and its with newest RK3288 but as i read it have some performance problems.
. Anyone can help me chose? i want to have good community support with new box. Maybe its worth wait for some new boxes?Thanks!

Here is google spreedsheed that i make for myself but who know if it can help anybody..

If it were me and I did not need all those extras you mentioned that come with Android, I would get a well proven and very popular ASUS Chromebox, and run Openelec for perfect 1080/24p synced video to the TV.
This box will change the TV's refresh rate on the fly for perfect video sync unlike Android boxes.

Why compromise with half baked video output solutions ?

Does 4K and 3D as well as HD Audio, no H265/HEVC.

The Amazon Fire TV would be the next consideration if a Chromebox is not available.

Support on the forums here is vitally important, don't just look at the Specs of various cheap boxes.
