How about doing the tests and you tell us?
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.
Hi fritsch

I have just done the tests on a baytrail nuc and get the same results as Devil Strike. @satforall Would you recommend an i5 nuc as I am looking to upgrade. Also can you power on from off by remote?

Cheers
From his tests you clearly see, that you won't win anything performance wise for this kind of content ... the new level will be HEVC in hardware support. And here you need BSW or later SKL.

As fritsch said, go for BSW or later SKL, but hold on even skylake won't offer an hdmi 2.0a Confused which you need for UHD@60,HDR...for future proof just skip and wait for next.
Edit: Yes i can turn on/off my nuc by remote.

nuc or the new brasswell based socs(with hevc support), asrock board will cost around 75eu. Some dutch hw site just reviewed it and for htpc is just perfect incl. perfect post processing. Only downsite is indeed no hdmi 2 so only 4k with a max of 30fps.

Connect 55 UHD SL4xx / Onkyo TX-SR444 / Intel Apollo Lake  / Ziggo Mediabox XL / 2x upc ci+ nagravision module / using dvb-c and dvb-s(19,2/23,5/28.2)

Yes i can turn off my nuc by remote.

Thanks sat4all

What I meant was can you power on the nuc by remote. I have been looking through various threads and it seems inconclusive.

Cheers

Are you sure, that 4k@60 content runs better than 4k@30 content?

is it normal to have the brightness/contrast option always available with prefer vaapi rendering on and off in this build ?

is this ok ? xrandr limited kodi full tv full ? i seem to get weird stuff when using different settings.

Without lanczos yes, with lanczos all videos have constant skips.

4kp60 with lanczos3 optimized scaling to 1080p: 1drop 100+ skips must be constant skips like the rest with lanczos3.

If you have your GPU set to limited range with xrandr, you'll also need to set the TV to limited range. Otherwise your blacks will be grey and whites dim.

It's better to use xrandr to set full range, then match Kodi and TV settings (either full or limited - shouldn't make much of a difference with dithering enabled).
