XBMC installation - VGA then HDMI?
#1
Hello all.

I've just finished setting up Windows 7 on the HTPC after switching to SSD as primary disk.

Currently the HTPC is connected to a plain PC monitor using VGA and so no HDMI audio or video properties are available within Windows.

I'm undecided whether or not I should setup XBMC using VGA and then move the HTPC to its proper position (HDMI connection HTPC -> AVR -> TV) or vice-versa.

Will Windows and XBMC just automatically detect the new connection and enable HDMI audio & video properties if I first set it up using only VGA?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, or if it doesn't make any sense...

Windows should handle the switch just fine. Set up whatever way is most convenient, then reboot with the HDMI connect, you can make any further adjustments needed at that time.

You can switch to HDMI any time. You will need to adjust the audio properties after selecting HDMI as output.
