HDMI output 640x480
#1
I have an Xtreamer with Classe which has an device screen of 640x480.

Everytime the xbmc starts it re-establish the monitor connected and therefore it is set back to 640x480. I also get no audio output on NVIDEA HDMI Classe (which is identified correctly).

What I need to do is the following:
- connect the Xtreamer (OpenElec) to a TV with 1920x1080
- shutdown xbmc
- take the Xtreamer to the Classe and connect it while the Classe is already on (which is dangerous)
Now the audio runs like a charm and I have 1920x1080 plus DTS-MA stream, flac 192khz/24 bits etc. Really perfect!

As soon as I power down everything and start-up again it switch back to 640x480 plus NO audio, although the audio is still set the original HDMI Classe etc. So this wasn't changed at setup.

I have tried to look at guisettings.xml and advancedsettings.xml in userdata folder but it seems that this adjusted when looking to the file date modification.

I run 3.0.6 OpenElect and Frodo 12.2 (what I see when booting up).

I you have any idea please let me know. I have seen it working and it is really superb!!!

Follow this howto, with a already running system: http://openelec.tv/forum/68-audio/61795-...d-on#69329

Important is the part of using the "working" EDID information to store it on your system, so nvidia always thinks it is up and fine.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Thanks Fritsch,
It's clear however at step 3 it is not going as described. The dump is not created (edid.bin). I can see in the log there are some EDID references but 0 Found at the end and therefore edid.bin is not created.
I'm pasting the most interesting part of Xorg.0.0.log (if you don't mind...)

Please use a pastebin and also post your xorg.conf that lead to this output. I think X is simply missing debugging.

Hi Fritsch,
I have tried once again as I doubted the connection with the device was not established correctly.
Indeed after a few retries step 3 was ok and the bin file was created with DFP-0.
After making the changes to xorg.conf (and I'm an experienced unix user with vi etc...) the file was ok however after a reboot I got:

Cannot open screen ":0.0"
Abnormal exit
repeatedly...Abnormal exit

When I rebooted again, it is just hanging after Openelec has started and the red screen appears of Xtreamer...

I have a suspicion my Classe is the problem. It has a monitor (in front of the pre-amplifier) in between which has a resolution of 640x480. The pre-amp has the ability to forward 1920x1080p, but this screen is in between. With normal use it displays 1920x1080p, but when enabling the logging I think it didn't see the 1920x1080p so the bin file was created with the 640x480 or whatsoever.

Do you advice me to connect directly to the output? In that case I might have a problem because I have a LCD with 1920x1080p and a projector with 1920x1080i

Also if I would connect the LCD directly it would see a Sony instead of the Classe HDMI... which is basically different (and yes it identifies exactly with HDMI what device is connected and give it a name according to screen).

I hope you have a solution.
