I just tried 0.5.8g and the channel building speed is greatly improved. EPG is still dog slow for me. It takes about 6-7 seconds from the time I hit the remote button to open the EPG until it's all presented on the screen. Navigating channels is slow 1-2 seconds, upwards of 10-15 if navigating to a channel off screen. It's still a problem even after the artwork spooler has finished. If I try to close before the artwork spooler has finished, PTVl hangs until the artowk spooler finishes then it exits promptly. I couldn;t seem to find the option to diable the artwork service to test if things improve without it.

If the other problem you are referring to is PTVL settings screen not showing up properly in Nox. From personal experience it has not worked for a long time. It is a Nox problem and nor PTVL. I always change to confluence when doing anything with PTVL settings.

Thought so too, but it was working absolutely perfect in the last built so I thought I should mention it. If there is nothing Luna can do that's fine with me. It's not that big of a deal to change to confluence for some adjustments and then change back. But I really really want my colored logos back

Yup, I'm used to switching to confluence in order to use PTVL's settings. Here is a little more info on the logo problem in case it gives Luna some clues.

The colour logo shows up on the EPG next to channel numbers. But it also appears in giant form where the fanart is supposed to be (Top centre)


The fanart shows in it's correct place when I press "I" whilst the show is playing.


When the channel plays the logo is nowhere to be seen


I really hope it can be solved as having no colour logo sucks big time

No I did not replace any of the skins in ptvl and the skin I'm using in ptvl is default
ptvl version is 0.5.8g

If I were you I would delete the script.pseudotv.live folder manually, and also make sure you don't have a duplicate install of PTVL maybe -master or -development.

then reinstall... because what you demonstrated shouldn't be possible.

btw I would love to provide a log file, do you have any information why kodi log uploader is failing? Or is it just on my system?

I was having the same problem with xbmclogs also, that site seems to be a tad unstable. If you use Dropbox, I was given this suggestion, move the Kodi log file over to your dropbox folder, right click on the file and select 'Share dropbox link' and post that link into your forum post.

Thanks for the info, I thought I read something about an unstable website at some point...
atm it's working again and I was able to provide a log file, but I will keep the dropbox option in mind

Sorry for being a noob, but do I need to have xmltv files created for Pluto.tv and have pseudotv launch kinkin's plutotv plugin when I click on a channel?

If so, does the xmltv file have to have a url to the plugin? Do I set it up as a channel type 8? A bit lost here....

Hi Luna,

I am having some issues on the 0.5.8G:

1) Artwork spooler is taking forever (last night it took 1000 sec) btw my artwork is on a samba share
2) While the artwork spooler is running, PTVL is unable to exit. I get the removing file locks in the notifications and the message Exiting on the screen with the blue tint until the spooler is done, which takes a looong time (no way to go back or exit any other way, after a few minutes I have to do a hard reboot if I don't want to wait too long)
3) Some media start playing from the start. This issue was fixed a while back. A lot of times, the media would initially start at the beginning but within a second it would seek to the correct time. It no longer does this.

While the spooler is running, the epg shows no artwork, but the info page does. I didn't really wait until spooler is done to see whether artwork shows up on the epg. The spooler takes too long and my patience runs out before that :-)

I'll post a log later today when I build up more patience :-)

This time I waited until the spooler finished (took longer than 10 min, not sure exactly how long, I wasn't paying attention). After the spooler was done, all the artwork was displayed in the epg with no issues.

However, the media starting from the beginning was still happening. Close to the end, you can see me changing the channels and about a third of the time, the media starts from the beginning rather than the middle. This was not happening in 0.5.8e iirc

Also, is the default behavior to exit the addon when the "stop" button is pressed? It seems intuitive to hit stop to stop the video, not exit the app entirely. And the "enter" or "select" key/button seems to select the EPG, but the video (channel) keeps playing in the background. Is this normal?

Yes that's normal. The plugin is designed to replicate a live cable TV experience. While there are ways to stop the video that is not how the plugin is intended to be used.

I don't believe there is anyway to start on the EPG, however you can start on a specific channel that you prefer, or (by default) you start on the last channel you watched.

Success! 0.5.8e does not have the guide issue I mentioned. So it seems it popped up for the first time in 0.5.8f. I'm going to stick with this version for now, until you advise otherwise. I'll be glad to test a new build for the issue when it becomes available. Also, let me know if you need any more info or log files. Thanks again!

I did the test also, and .0.5.8e didn't have the issues for me either. All the channels populated correctly, but it took an insane amount of time to populate the channels. I started the channel population at 6:55 pm, and for the 69 channels, it finally finished at 11:15pm, so it took a little more than 4 hours to populate.

Yup! and from my comparison between versions... the only change that accounts for the problem is duration parsing...

I changed duration parsing to increase channel building speed.. The way it was before (v.0.5.8e) had increased accuracy but was very slow.
The new method is faster, but relies on xbmc having accurately scraped information.

I will add a setting to allow users the turn on "accurate duration"

Awesome, thanks for taking a look at this issue and resolving so quickly! I'd love to have the speed boost that I saw in the latest release, but I'd rather have my guide work more! That option to switch sounds like the perfect solution for those with this issue. So what would cause Kodi to have inaccurately scraped information? Discrepancy between TVDB and scene releases? Misread file info? In any case, thank you again! I'll look forward to the next update!

Hey all, I have 2 quick questions.

1. How do you pull up that "alternate" guide in the epg? I don't know how else to explain it, I see it in screenshots, but have never seen it in person. It is off to the left of the screen?

2. I am attempting to download the channel logos (donor) and I select "Download logo pack" in the donor section. Am I correct in thinking I should see some type of download process? And then see a logo folder in the addon_data folder?

FEATURE REQUEST:

Sub folders for BTC-folders to allow for channel specific BTCs. Folder structure:
/commercials/
... /commercials/_all
... /commercials/_fallback
... /commercials/BBC
... /commercials/CNN
Commercials in "_all" we be played in all channels. Commercials in "_fallback" will be played in channels that do not have an own sub folder. Commercials in a channel sub folder will be played in that channel only.

This way you could have different commercials for say adult vs. kids channels.

Press the info button (whichever button brings up the info bar on the bottom; it's usually "i" on keyboards), and then press the left arrow/directional button.
