Ok so im fairly new to Kodi and also PTVL.
Ive been troubleshooting for a little while now and i cant seem to narrow down exactly what or why its causing issues.
Using Kodi 14.2rc1 (helix), and have been using 0.5.9 for PTVL. (also just tested and issue still happens in 0.6.0, did fresh kodi install, installed 0.6.0 and still happens)
Anyway, i have definitely narrowed it down to PTVL causing the issue, as when ever i install the PTVL addon (and it installs the dependencies) it happens.
After i install it, i no longer get ANY audio from any videos/music on kodi.
i have completely uninstalled everything to do with PTVL and the issue still persists.
what ive noticed that it does, is force ALL audio to SPDIF out (looking at the audio mixer in windows, it shows it playing through there). But i dont have anything connected to or using SPDIF out. i have it set up to default through my headphones in windows.
Even after disabling SPDIF in sound options, it still trys to send audio to that (resulting in just no audio playing from kodi what so ever in audio mixer), if when re-enable spdif i can see its still pushing audio to that.
ive searched ALL settings in kodi, and no where in any of it does it list spdif out as enabled.
Ive set everything to defaults in kodi, still keeps doing it. Ive even forced kodi to use my headphones, and it still keeps pushing all audio to spdif out. (again even with it disabled)
The only way i can fix it is literally wiping all of kodi off my pc, and re-installing it.
EDIT: seems the default sound setting of "output configuration: optimized" is what was causing the issue. Forcing it to "fixed" seems to solve the issue.
why anyone would make the default option to play to outputs which are disabled in the os, is beyond my comprehension :/
i could understand if it was enabled or atleast connected to something, it would play to the best audio output for the videos... but forcing all audio to a non existent output is retarded...
