XBMC uses FFMpeg, so OpenHEVC being multi-threaded is a useless option.

To reiterate what I've been saying for about a year now and this seems to get lost in the noise of a shiny new codec. You want h265, then get big iron and use software decode. Say goodbye to atoms and ions and androids for at least two years while those boxes catch up.

This is why I thought ahead when I built mine and went with an A8-3870K. My thoughts were 'I don't want to have to upgrade my box, aside from hard drives, for YEARS.' Ugh, I remember struggling as it was with the classic XBMC, trying to get ANY h.264 to run through that little 733mhz Celeron in that machine. :X
