Linux XBMCbuntu 12.2 Intermittent frame drops with HD content
#1
Hardware = ASRock ION 330 with 2GB Ram 512MB assigned to GPU
Running XBMCbuntu 12.2 Frodo

I'm having an intermittent problem with dropped frames when playing 1080 content, sometimes content plays perfectly other times when it plays it drops loads of frames, if I play something and it's dropping frames and I restart the system and then retry it plays perfectly, just seems to happen randomly.

I've managed to capture some debug logs of 1 of these events but a search of the errors it contains has drawn a blank so I'm hoping someone could take a look and offer some advice on how to fix it pls

Remove your custom asound.conf / ~/.asoundrc

You try to send raw passthrough to the "hdmi_formatted" sink, which heavily fails.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

There's no asound.conf at least not in /etc and I've searched and not found one anywhere else but there was a .asoundrc in ~/ so I've removed that, unfortunately due to the intermittent nature it will be a while before I know if it's worked.

Cheers though fritsch for taking a look, will let you know what happens.

Bad news, it's done it again, it seemed to be fine yesterday, tried numerous different recordings and no problem but just tried one tonight and it's dropping frames, tried skipping forward and back to see what effect that would have but continued to drop frames, here's a rather long log section - http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=54922

In case that log was too long or unclear I then restarted xbmc and played the recording again (still dropping frames) - http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=54924
