Help with audio output
#1
Hoping an audio / windows expert can help me get my audio settings corrected - have been living for over a year only audio when set to "analog" (nothing when set to 'HDMI').

CONFIGURATION:
Win 7 computer; GeForce 8400 video card (NVIDA). Connected via HDMI to Pioneer receiver. That connected via HDMI to Panasonic TV. There are no problems with any devices in "device manager".

SETTINGS:
Under Windows Sound Settings there are 3 options: (1) Panasonic TVO-1 (set as default); (2) Speakers (there are none attached); (3) Digital Audio S/PDIF

Under NVIDA Control Panel - "Set up Digital Audio" - there are 2 options: (1) DVI ('none available'); (2) HDMI: Panasonic TVO

XBMC SYSTEM SETTINGS:
Under XBMC System Settings / Audio Output Device:
..... Audio Output set to "analog" yields audio output; set to HDMI yields nothing at all
..... Under "Audio Output Device there are 6 options (three for WASAPI; three for Directsound). Both WASAPI & Directsound offer: (1) HDMI - Panasonic TVO-1 ...; (2) Speakers (high definition audio device); (3) Digital Audio (S/PDIF ...)
..... Passthrough offers the same options as above, though I don't know what this is for really.

SYMPTOMS:
..... My Pioneer receiver does not show up as a "Device" in Win - only the Panasonic TV. I don't know if it should.
..... With XBMC set to "analog" I get audio. When set to HDMI I get nothing, and have tried all 6 Audio Output Devices, but as long as XBMC is set to HDMI, not Analog, I get zip.
..... Audio output using "Analog" is not good (pops, scratch sounds, etc.
..... Audio from an external DVD player, connected via HDMI to the receiver, is good
..... When I play music, or watch a movie using Windows Media Player, audio is OK, though nothing through the rear speakers (don't care since i never use WMP). But, the audio in the front & sub seems fine.

SO, I SUPPOSE I HAVE SOMETHING SET WRONG WITHIN XBMC, BUT FOR THE LIFE OF ME CAN'T FIND IT.

Does anything pop out to anyone who actually knows what they are doing 8unlike me, who does NOT!)?
