Maybe so, but I haven't had a problem with the nuvoton driver in that sense. By the time I was installing windows 8.1, that driver was already released and I already had it. The CIR all appears to be working fine according the the device manager, but doesn't respond to any remote key presses. Pop in the supplied USB infrared dongle and it works straight away....very frustrating.
