Hi!
I'm thinking about buying a Haswell-based NUC but one big question that keeps popping into my mind is the inbuilt IR-receiver.
Is it compatible and does it work out of the box with the latest version of OpenELEC and a Logitech Harmony Smart Control?

All NUCs with built in IR are RC6 compatible CIR.
Work fantastically with harmonies.

Hello
I just ordered parts for an i3 haswell nuc build and i'm just trying to make sure i have the procedure right for installing openelec:
1. Flash bios to new beta (with shutdown fix)
2. Install latest openelec gotham nightly - has autostart fix for rc included?
So i don't need to disable wol or ssh in for rc fix? Is this right and did i miss anything.

I would appreciate if someone could do a sanity-check on my order before I place it, to avoid any idiot mistakes:
1x Intel NUC D54250WYK
1x Samsung 840 EVO Series mSATA MZ-MTE250 250GB
1x Corsair Vengeance SO-DIMM DDR3L PC12800/1600MHz CL9 8GB (2x4 GB) (CMSX8GX3M2B1600C9)
1x Logitech Harmony Smart Control
1x Deltaco HDMI - HDMI Mini High Speed with Ethernet 1m
I will be using Ethernet so no WiFi module is needed, the HDMI cable is for direct hookup to my TV. I realize that the Core i5 model, 8 GB of ram and 250 GB SSD might seem overkill, but I intend to store a fair amount of stuff on the SSD, so I need the space (I don't want the 2,5 inch model). The i5 model and 8 GB of Ram is for futureproofing and extra speediness. I will use OpenELEC as my OS.

This might have been asked already, but i am going to be getting a NUC as well as was wanting to get rid of my current tower that is now next to the TV, the only issue i have is since all of my movies and videos are storred on the 3-3 TB drives in my tower what will i need to get so i can still see them through the NUC that will be hooked directly to my entertainment center. I was thinking a NAS would be the way to go but i do not know anything about them and do not want to spend a lot of money on one so could i get some ideas as to what would be the best way to go. Thanks

Yes a NAS is the best, a synology 4 bay if you can afford it. Otherwise ive had good results with Netgear ReadyNAS 4 bay. At least you have the drives already which saves some signficant cost... although you will need somewhere to transfer your files to while you build the NAS up, since it will wipe the drives as you add them to the NAS, so you might have to get 1 more 3TB drive to give you some spare capacity while you juggle things around. If you run 4x 3TB drives in RAID5 you will have a 8-9TB NAS with some fault tolerance
