I was running stock Android 4.1.2 before I attempted to install Ember 3.0.1.
The "write protected" SDRAM card is not relevant, I was just indicating that I have it permanently on hand.
Likewise I don't use the assert fail spi file, it was included when I got the package (no idea where it came from).
There is nothing special about a Linux produced boot sector versus a Windows produced boot sector on the SDRAM card, they perform identically because they are identical, just created with a different tool.
