Yes, of course. NFS is going to be capped at ~11MB/s, USB can hit 25MB/s. However, the real world difference isn't likely to be so significant, but you will - in all probability - see a performance gain from USB over NFS.
Texture Cache Maintenance Utility: Preload your texture cache for optimal UI performance. Remotely manage media libraries. Purge unused artwork to free up space. Find missing media. Configurable QA check to highlight metadata issues. Aid in diagnosis of library and cache related problems.
